WT is consumed solely with ineffective 'busy work' at the expense of anything having real substance.

Because that's what keeps the jws Brain Dead, of course! If they were encouraged to actually FEEL something for others, they might start to Wake Up.

Guess what? These articles are planned in advance to coincide with the new "resolved" donation arrangement. It's time for your bank account to have no limits!!

Along the same lines as jonahstourguide's questions, where the hell does the Bible say that Peter was okay with getting counseled publicly by Paul? The account doesn't give Peter's reaction. The article mentioned that 2 Peter speaks glowingly of Paul, therefore they must have been cool with each other, which is funny for those of us who know that 2 Peter is not believed to have been written by Peter at all. I hate when the Society thinks they can read the minds of the people in the Bible.

    What about paragraph 17?

Who today in the JW religion pursue a quest for prominence? Who want their names memorized? Who want more personal recognition? Who take to themselves ever more authroity over the R&F? Who will NEVER let themselves receive any needed discipline from any source?

    Gawd, I think I just urped...again!

My favorite was the how Jeehoober would bless us if we are giving, even though we are imperfect humans. LOL!!! Obviously!! He blessed the masturbating brother by appointing him as a MS! That Jeehoober knows how to reach the heart, I tell ya!!

He lets the guy look at porn since the age of 12 by permitting the evil Satan to flood the world with porn [ Just so he can say,"I told you so, Universe!!"] and then has the Holy Spirit sneak the guy under the radar through the multi-step appointment process for becoming an MS!

That is no easy feat! You have to fool all the BOE and the C.O. and the Branch and the GB!! Then you have to fool the Eldubs one last time before they announce the appointment to the Congregation!! Amazing!! The collective brain-power that had to be fooled is unimaginable!

Then Jeehoober has the Holy Spirit make the MS confess to the Eldumbs and get removed to "restore" his relationship with Jeehoober that was damaged by the pornography that Jehhoober allowed in the first place! All so that this paragraph could be read around the world by JWs!! WOW!! Just think about that operation of Holy Spirit!!

I just wish they would explain how Jeehoober's Spirit went on to repair the damaged marriage of Brother McSpanky and his innocent wife. Maybe that will be in next months WT??

I'm enjoying this thread, Jonahstourguide, I was interested in your comment of " Where the hell does the bible say peter was thinking that james and john might get his spot????"

I did a bit of research and only found that they and their mother had requested to be at his right and left hand in his glory. Perhaps this is where they are getting the idea. It is still another manipulative article.

The Mother of James and John Asks Jesus Something Hard

Matthew 20:20 The mother of Zebedee’s children (James and John) came to Jesus with her sons. She got down on her knees before Jesus to ask something of Him. 21 He said to her, “What do you want?” She said, “Say that my two sons may sit, one at Your right side and one at Your left side, when You are King.” 22 Jesus said to her, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to take the suffering that I am about to take? (*Are you able to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?)” They said, “Yes, we are able.” 23 He said to them, “You will suffer as I will suffer. But the places at My right side and at My left side are not Mine to give. Whoever My Father says will have those places.”

24 The other ten followers heard this. They were angry with the two brothers. 25 Jesus called them to Him and said, “You know how the kings of the nations show their power to the people. Important leaders use their power over the people. 26 It must not be that way with you. But whoever wants to be great among you, let him care for you. 27 Whoever wants to be first among you, let him be your servant. 28 For the Son of Man came not to be cared for. He came to care for others. He came to give His life so that many could be bought by His blood and made free from the punishment of sin.”

Mark 10:35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Yes, as jonah pointed out, the Society not only picked on Peter here, but assigned him a motive. Why were Peter and the other apostles "displeased" at James and John? Was it because they also wanted the closest positions to Jesus? Maybe, but it doesn't say that. Perhaps they just didn't think it was appropriate of James and John to ask for this. So there's both speculation from the Society, and also a singling out of Peter, the purpose of which was apparently to build a case for Peter being humble some of the time (like the part I referred to earlier when he was chastised by Paul), and sometimes not, as in this case with James and John. But as a result, it paints Peter in a different light than the account itself does, as you saw.
