  Are others hearing this meme from speakers at their congregation?

  Is it a NEWSPEAK technique for instilling a sense of urgency?

  If it is - it's more manipulative than 1975

  It seems like a way of getting around over use of the word "soon", "just around the corner".

  Maybe after 100 years of waiting they feel they need to approach it from another angle.

  I should mention that the qualifier "may" is added "this may be our last___________________ fill in the blank.

  Lots of wiggle room. The word "may" automatically suggests "may not".

  Blatant abuse of words playing with peoples expectations.

  Yes, since they used that wording in the KM for the memorial now the R&F are awaiting for something big to happen.

  I have been hearing this since I can remember. It creates a permanent urgency among some JWs. Delusional I say. They are the boy who cried wolf.

  It's the usual propaganda. Get the R&F believing the big 'A' is just about to happen...............false hope.........gets them busy.....minds diverted from what a crock the WBT$ really is.

  Same old tricks.

  I was in from 1973-1988. They always said that every memorial and every convention was potentially the last one.

  Yes, you "may" win the lottery, too...but your chances are one in 175 million. This "may" be the last assembly/Memorial before Armageddon....

  It WAS the last Memorial before the assembly.

  They may have just had their last Memorial and they may be going to their last big convention.

  Also, they may need to bend over so they can more easily be screwed over by the Governing Body.
  
  They may get pissed off when another and another and another, etc. Memorial/Assembly takes place.
