"They never said they were perfect". Very true. And yet, as we know, the loyal jw is expected to treat the "spiritual food" as though it comes from God, which implies that it is perfect.
Until that jw notices that a mistake was made - a missed date for Armageddon perhaps. Or, he is informed that there is a change in "understanding" of a teaching.
Then, it's "they never said they were perfect".
In the meantime, it is implied, or even directly stated, that the fault lies with the average jw, who harbored "expectations" that turned out to be unrealistic, even though the expectations were created by Watchtower teachings.

I like to the think of the Governing Body Faithful Slave as the Pharmacist in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE and think of us Apostates
as the Jimmy Stewart character who was the delivery boy when he was younger.
Do you remember what happened?
The Pharmacist gave his delivery boy some "medicine" to cure a neighbor's child (it accidentally contained poison due to alcohol inebriation.)
When Jimmy tries to tell his boss that he DID NOT deliver because the medicine would kill the child---what does the old man do?
He smacks him and yells at him!

Aunt Fancy
Excellent information. I came in after I married my inactive JW husband and we went to the meetings together and then I got baptized. He noticed I changed once I became a JW but he couldn't put it all together. I was in for 30 years and about a month ago my Mom told me she was happy to see the old Aunt Fancy with the lilt in her step. It has been 21 months since we walked away and I am feeling like my old self more and more each day.
