WOW!! That's the same crazy stuff my mother told us!! I'm convinced these demonic stories make their rounds and our mothers make them their own!!

I seriously would just cut off any communication with her for now. Block her from your email, facebook anything that will keep her up to date with how you and your children are doing. I guarantee she will come around one day....much more humble.

I learned if I give my mom an audience to preach her beliefs it will never end!! So I made it clear we will not talk religion at all! after a couple months of silence she came around. We of course have very little in common anymore (which is sad) but I know how she is doing and she knows how we are doing. It is what it is.

I agree that your mother has some kind of mental disorder, but it's hard to know for sure because the religion itself is so crazy. I think she would probably have had issues even if not a JW, but it certainly contributed a great deal to her nutty thinking and behavior. Like many JWs, she suffers from confirmation bias, she discounts anything that doesn't confirm her beliefs, and readily believes anything that does.

I was a dubbie for thirty years and never once thought I was under demon attack, even though I regularly shopped at garage sales. I occasionally woke up and could not move for a few seconds, but I knew that you undergo a kind of paralysis when dreaming, if you wake suddenly it sometimes takes a few seconds for it to go away. Some people are just gullible and superstitious, and in your mother's case, probably enjoys the drama on it.

I think the letter you sent was perfect. She will twist and turn every thing you do and say to support her insane point of view so the less said the better. Trying to counter her her insanity will just get you mired in futile debate and gain you nothing. Your children are probably better off without her, she has shown she doesn't care if she hurts them like she did your sisters children, by repeating her made up version of events. She has torn up her grandmother card in my opinion.

As Jgnat said, time and distance.

I liked your short response, your position is clear, and this is not your fault. Time to let it go, unless she wants to change her approach.

I think I would write her one last time and mention the verse she didn't in her last letter about confessing Jesus, I would then state the scripture were Jesus says where there are 2 or more in my name there I will be too. Follow that up with the scripture where the Pharisees say Jesus is performing works using demons and Jesus says that's the worst sin, last but not least point to the book of exudus where the Israelites make the calf not to replace god but as a representation of him. Then nicely state that she and her jw friends are comitting idolatry by saying the jw is gods only org and judging other Christians is sinning against the holy spirit and you will not allow your kids to be around such ones sinning agianst god and judging others.

I have had the opposite effect. I don't sleep-walk, but I moan and mumble in my sleep. The sleep paralysis is incomplete.

@Giordano - about a year ago I made the change of custody to my wifes sister. She has never been a JW and has no real knowledge of it. Her main goal for her kids is education and she is a very intelligent woman with an MBA and a social worker. Her Husband likewise. THhey have values that we hold dear. THey are set up witha life insurance policy that wont require those taking care of them to be burdened at all.

Our will is air tight and nothing goes to the money grubbers at all. The funny thing is my brother the super-elder still has me listed as the individual to take his daughter upon his death... Odd isnt it.

You are correct. She use to have this obsession with Romance Novels. I mean obsession. I think she hates her lot in life but realizes that she has no options. So she just swings from extreme to extreme in an attempt to find some form of satisfaction. Either way I will not be pulled into it.

The bad thing is I post the stranger things. I get like 2 to 4 of these a day. SHe still constantly sends me these examples of things happening to people in the ministry etc... its ridiculous. If I posted them all this thread would be 1100 pages long

Does she e-mail you the ignorant JW anecdotal experiences that all the pioneers pass around? Those are the worst! Now, with the existence of pintrest and instagram [ exchange-o-gram LOL!!] things are even dumber. I get pissed off just catching a glance of all the dumb JW stuff on my wife's phone!!!
