Christians know that whatever peace and security the nations may appear to have achieved, basically nothing will have changed. Selfishness, hatred, crime, family breakdown, immorality, sickness, sorrow, and death will still be here. That is why no cry of “peace and security” needs to mislead you, if you remain awake to the meaning of world events and heed the prophetic

Atheists know that whatever love and harmony the religions may appear to have achieved, basically nothing will have changed. Selfishness, hatred, crime, family breakdown, immorality, sickness, sorrow, and death will still be there. That is why no cry of "love and harmony" needs to mislead you, if you remain awake to the true nature of religion and have a little common sense.

Of what use is any prophecy or warning when it can only be applied in retrospect?

It's like having a smoke alarm that rings the hotel you're staying at to confirm that yes, your house did just burn down.

They like to make out they are gods mouthpiece and know some inside scoop but the fact is they know jack shit about bugger all.

President Obama and Bill Clinton's Aborted Golf Outing and Their Super-Awkward Relationship

Even after Mr. Obama named Mrs. Clinton as secretary of state, seemingly binding the wounds from their hard-fought 2008 primary campaign, the book says, he still could barely endure spending much time with the often-exhausting Bill Clinton. Mr. Obama rarely contacted his Democratic predecessor in the first years after taking office, but after the midterm losses for his party, the incumbent and his inner circle realized that they needed the still-popular Mr. Clinton.
When the two of them golfed together in September 2011, an effort aides hoped would bring them closer, they did not even finish 18 holes. Mr. Obama succinctly expressed his view of Mr. Clinton to an aide after coming off the course at Andrews Air Force Base. “Obama grimaced and replied, ‘I like him … in doses,'  ” the authors write.

I don't think it is instantly, as in the minute they say it , it say's ," in the days they say peace and security," plural , probably meaning the last days . We've discussed that before on this board . As far as the rest with O not liking clintons , possible , I wouldn't be surprised if O doesn't back clinton in 2018 should we make it there .

It’s obvious that the WTS will be forced to remain in their current state of “limbo” because if they were to say that the Biblical proclamation of “peace and security” is currently being or has already been fulfilled, then they would in effect set a new clock ticking which demands results pretty much “instantly,” with the expectation that all false religion worldwide would then be turned on and effectively obliterated; HOWEVER, what they will have to continue to do is point to any kind of political or social turmoil as just further proof that ‘we are indeed deep into the time of the end’ and that the cry of “peace and security” must be ‘in the very near future.’

They have to remain in this sort of “sweet zone” whereby people are kept in expectation and anticipation of this cry of “peace and security,” which begins the final stages of the time of the end, commencing the “great tribulation” and leading right up to the climax of Armageddon – BUT they cannot actually go so far as to make any announcement of the fulfillment of that cry of “peace and security,” as the failure of the “sudden destruction” part (Babylon the Great being turned on by the UN, of all things) would fairly shortly seal their fate as being confirmed false prophets.

So they will have to keep perpetuating the understanding that we are ‘deep into the time of the end’ but not at that very last stages. In other words, the final little fuse is about to be lit, but it never will be (it can’t; reality won’t allow it), and so no need to bother waiting for the big “kaboom” just yet!

Sooner or later reality impinges on a prediction. That's what happened when the people alive in 1914 died off. There followed a flurry of attempts to explain "Wha' Happen?"

Rutheford was confronted with the obvious fact that including the annointed of the 2000 years following the Christian foundation at Pentecost 33 there were most likely more than 144,000 annointed that lived and died. So, he made that number literal and created a new class "the great crowd".

When 1914 didn't produce the return of Christ so that every eye could see him they made the return invisible.

The Blood Transfusion detour can't be changed without a major-major schism.

The problem with a Israeli/Palestine peace agreement is that it would be too significant for them to ignore. In the world of diplomacy the conflict in the middle east has dominated policy and it has been the most sought after of peace achievements. It is the dominant cause of terror in the Western World. It involves Christians, Jews, and Muslims because Jerusalem is the place where Abraham offered up Isaac and Solomon built the temple. It is the place where Muhammed ascended to heaven and where Jesus was crucified. There is no other place on earth that is held in such reverence.

It is the intersection of the cultures of 4 billion people which is over half the population of the earth.

Every president from Eisenhower until now tried to get a comprehensive peace in that conflict. All they have been able to achieve is a little "piece" here and a little "piece" there - but NO PEACE.

Don't doubt for a moment that Obama is pushing for this. As soon as Kerry achieves it Obama will of course step in and take all of the credit. If Kerry fails - Obama is at a safe distance from the effort so he can avoid a perception of failure.

How could the Watchtower avoid latching onto such a declaration. They would have to incorporate it into their scheme. Maybe that will be their undoing.

A declaration of peace right around the Memorial (April 14) would certainly be a tempting trap for JW's to feel the Destruction of
Babylon The Great is at hand. This will be their final test. If some catastrophic event follows a
declaration of peace in the middle east JWs will have the next 100 years to claim their prophetic
    role.

It is irrelevant, and is not going to have a 100 year affect. 1986 was the world year of peace and we got all excited, yet most JWs now know nothing about it. JWs, like all doomsday cults, pick up on any event to fuel their fire of expectation. Every year has a disaster of some sort, or a cry of peace, that carries on their fervour till the next event.

The UN have had that on their website for as long as I can remember, probably getting on for 20 years now.

Growing up a JW I have heard two polar viewpoints on the statement of peace and security.

The cry of peace and security means a literal cry of "why is there no peace and security?" Everything is so bad!

    or...

The cry of peace and security means a cry of excitement "Yippee! We finally have peace and security"

So the JWs have this statement covered. No matter what we have fulfillment. Therefore the end is right around the corner. But we already knew that.
