Comparing the list to the 2000 yb, I don't see listed: Antigua, Armenia, Belarus, Lithuania, Malta, Nepal, Sudan and Turkey. Maybe they were closed before that year, seem to remember Malta as a Branch.
Let me see if my compadre sheds more light in this issue.

Based on the "management" decisions that are being made, shouldn't it be apparent to everyone, even active JWs, that the new GB really does not believe that Armageddon is "right around the corner". Else, why would they be entering into the grandiose building plan in Warwick that will not even be completed until 2017? That in itself is a THREE-YEAR building plan.
Thus, why should any JW get their panties all in a twist about The End(TM) being SOOOOO CLOSE? They are all witnesses to the fact that their elderly members are dead or dying. The ones who brought them into The Truth(TM) or studied with them and who chaired all the meeting parts are OLD and being replaced by an all new generation (old definition) of elders and MS. The old guys are being put out to pasture until they die, too.
I think even those of us who have Awakened! might be surprised with just how long-term of planning they have.

Thanks for the list. I'd visited several of those branches. Some were quite small. But many were large, new, and very nice. I can only guess that the value of all that property is in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Add to that the fact that WT income is no longer spent on upkeep of all those beautiful properties, and there's an obvious question:

Anybody that's been an MS realizes how congregations are required to keep careful financial records that are reported to the congregation, audited within the congregation, and checked at every CO visit. If the nickel-and-dime congregations are so carefully scrutanized, shouldn't every level of the organization be open to public audit and review? Is a late deposit of $25 in the account of Podunk congregation any big deal when hundreds of millions of dollars disappear into the secrecy of WT Corporation?

Malta is IBSA house - not a Branch. It comes under Britain Branch which is purchasing 80 acres of land in Essex, east of London, for the new Britain Branch.

Wow I do so hope that global communications are still available after Armageddon or that the society has trained carrier pigeons otherwise what will all those congregations in the outlying ccountries do? After all there aren't many specialists in the organisation to get things up and running.
This organisation is planning for economies of scale not for global recovery after an apocalypse. It is a business built on the gulible for the preservation of the greedy. I pity those putting their faith in it.
This Sunday (5 January 2014) is when Anthony Morris III visits Italy (Rome Bethel) and gives his speech to the nation.
