I'm fairly sure it has been shown that they were not built mainly by slaves but by skilled Egyptian craftsmen who lived in temporary towns for months at a time.

As advanced as we get, we just cannot travel back in time to absolutely answer every question about how things were done.
As long as some non-scientific minds insist that it could not have been done the way scientific minds say it could have been done, someone will highlight the opinions of the non-scientific minds to say "So we really cannot know." Others will highlight that to say "So God or aliens must have helped."

i'd beg to differ in regards to the beginning of the universe. there are scientists that have done a much better job explaining the beginning of the universe, than how these pyramids were put there.
There is funding for scientists to look into the beginnings of the universe. There are practical applications to many things they discover.
There is not so much funding for "How were the pyramids built." Still, research is presented. I think the biggest difference is that one is presented to the public by governments and serious scientific agencies, while the other is presented to the public by entertainment corporations.
I will stick with saying that there will always be non-scientific minds that say it couldn't have happened without aid from outside of where the evidence points. I have seen and read excellent information on how the pyramids were probably built. But we live in a world where absolutes are rare.
Except for logic concepts like "If A equals B, and B equals C, then A equals C" our world has no real absolutes. You could be a brain in a vat of liquid, and the world around you is just chemical stimulation of that brain making false memories and visualizations. We could all be programs in a computer. We could be living in a two-dimensional world that tricks us into seeing it three-dimensionally. I personallly think all three of those ideas are just silly, but I cannot absolutely rule them out.

Structures everywhere are of opinions just to produce books, each one out to make his own money or fame from being the know-the-answer. The original claim of the Great Pyramid was based on its main shaft. Precession of the Earth proves it pointed at the star Thuban. BUT that gives it a year of 2170bc or 3350bc (note 1180 years) because when the pole was in the middle (590 years) between those two points in 2760bc, the pole was on the star, but the shaft is below the star and cannot see it. Another source says 3400bc or 2170bc making the middle point on the star in 2785bc. People thrive on the idea that Egyptology places it at this 2785-2760bc, but as proven it isnt seen in this year. So they radiocarbon-date it and as 2853-3809bc (1000 years). The problem with radio-carbon is they toss the dates they claim are not right such as 2200bc and keep the ones they claim are right. One example is Peleg's death in the tombs of Ur. They date as 2030bc. This is correct because he died 340 years after the Flood. However, Egyptian Septuagint Genesis says Egyptian flood (presumed as Nile (was 720 years 180 leap days earlier) in 3090bc. And that Peleg died 768 years later as did Unas Sakkara in 2321bc. Thus they expect things that date as 2030bc to be dating as 2321bc. And thus the stretch back to 3090bc. However, water canopy elimination increases C-14 by 12 times which means that the 340 years from Flood to 2030bc will appear stretched in C-14 not a mere 720 years but rather 18,000 to 20,000 years more than they are. Thus we find 2170bc Giza dates as 3000bc as 2237bc Jericho dates as 7000bc. ETC. My measuring the geometry of math given on the internet and all books available shows that a shaft that high (about 3 feet) and that long will lose sight of a star in a mere 92 years. This brings in alignment several astral facts about Genesis. The 2170bc is 200 after the Flood, and when Narmer or Nar (Nar Merod) was 100 (born in 2270bc) thus fulfilling tradition that the stars called Seth were observed to compare 100 years. As you can see in 92 they fail from 2170-2078bc, corrected they fail 2078-1986bc, correccted they fail 1986-1894bc. All three of these subsequent years are also Genesis related. Anything, puzzles the mind when a real true answer is rejected and people wish to browse millions of fabricated answers.
