  Lets recap.

  97% of climate scientists are sure with a high degree of confidence that recent climate change is directly caused and can only be explained by human activity. Nobody is claiming that climate didn't change before for natural reasons.

  Any 'controversy' exists within the details of climate processes eg what is the precise role of El Nino, what is the precise role of cloud cover, what is the precise role of deep ocean warming and ocean acidification.

  The Daily Mail has an agenda. We all know that. Right? This article is a classic example of cherry picking. Lets take 1 data point - in this case Artic ice cover (ignoring ice depth and ice age) - and lets take 1 year of data - 2012. Lets use 1 scientist - Judith Curry - whose views have been widely discredited to the point of embarassment by other climate scientists - and lets make a headline called GLOBAL COOLING CONTROVERSY. Pathetic.

  If you want to side with the 3% of climate scientists who do not accept the mainstream viewpoint, then first you should explain why you are better qualified than the 97% to take such a position.

  Or just be open about your anti-science ideology like the Daily Mail is - then at least the rest of know where we stand. Don't insult us by dressing it up as science -please.

  Interesting how temperature went up between jesus and 1000, then down then up again.

  Did the Romans have factories burning fossil fuels ? What exactly did man do 10000 years ago ?

  Shouldnt hte increase in the past 150 years be quadratic at the least or maybe exponential, after all the increase in fossil fuel burning has not been a linear increase.

  mP does massively generalize, but reducing our consumption of fossil fuels would help.

  Over-use and under-use of fertilizer:

  

  The Chinese have experienced famine in their generation, so are loath to stop fertilizing. Increase food security (such as developing GM crops that require less ) and over-use will drop.

  How about carbon dioxide scrubbers for power plants?

  There seemed to be eagerness to attribute storms such as Katrina or Sandy to global warming. Now, with an absence of such storms, doubt appears.

  Again, this is the problem: dramatic conclusions expressed publically that are based on nothing more than speculation. The field of climate prediction is undergoing a sort of self destruction - because of over confident predictions that turn sour in public view, as the BBC screen capture suggests.

  This sort of behavior should not surprize anyone following current news events. If you follow the news about Syria, you can discern the hand of elites - who keep pushing for war, war, war, obsessively, no matter what. These elites maintain a public obsession with climate change that exceeds reasonable priorities, no different from the situation with Syria: threats that are real but blown up out of proportion to likely outcomes.

  Its a bit like the historical jesus, next to nobody knows any facts on the matter but they all assume. Nobody knows who declared global warming or cooling is a fact. Nobody knows the facts etc.
