Ravens: ...the jehovahs witnesses believe that jesus was reincarnated from a man who died and came back as an angel.

    Say what?

    Perry:

have you actually read the evidence from non xian sources for jesus ? Write down the list of points you learn from each and you will find its very bland and could be any other religious leader of the time.

Even Paul knows nothing about Jesus the man. scan thru all his writings and write down the facts you learn about jesus.

stop when you get to 5. You wont learn about his family, where he went, what miracles he did, when he lived, who his apostles were and so on.

    I challenge you!

Its amazing just how few so called witness tehre are for the resurrection.

Theres no resurrection in Mark. Given that Mat and Lk copied Mark one has to wonder why Mk originally had no resurrection. How could he forget to include that in his account ?

Anyway lets assume all accounts are true, why should we believe basically the writings of 2 men. Do we believe that Mohammad flew on a unicorn to jerusalem from arabia because some other men wrote it down, because thats what the koran says ?

17: 1 Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night from the Inviolable Place of Worship to the Far distant place of worship the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed , that We might show him of Our tokens! Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Seer.

    Perry,

Since you are very vocal about Jesus’s ressurrection, can you solve the mystery of a small ressureection—of Lazarus?

    1) Lazarus was reportedly resurrected after being four days in the tomb, hence is not an ordinary event, but most spectacular display of power, and was the grand finale of miracles; yet why did all three gospel accounts which were written earlier did not know of this great event, but found only in the Gospel of John written towards 96-98 AD?

    2) If Lazarus was Jesus’s friend, and resurrected by Jesus, why did he not turn up in strong desfense of Jesus when he was falsely accused and sentenced to death? He had nothing to fear about, as he had already experienced resurrection from Jesus!!!??? If “many women” had turned up in strong support to Jesus at that most perilous time, why can’t Lazarus? (Matthew 27:55)

    3) One can say, lazarus again fell sick, and bed-ridden or out of station. Ok, but after that, after he had returned, would he have put a strong defense for Jesus, preaching like apostle Paul?

    Rose:

How did the gospel writers know what happened at the trial if they werent there ?

How come Lazarus is never mentioned again int he BIble ? Why didnt he become an apostle, why didnt Paul visit him ?

LOL, the fundies try to portray the Gospels as being virtual eye-witness accounts, they date them as being written earlier than generally accepted, as if they were in some way like the live 24 hour news coverage we enjoy in the 21st century. But of course they are not: the Gospels are carefully thought-out theological statements; which is why they differ from each other in many details- these were doctrinal points the different writers wished to emphasize. The writers were really reinforcing their versions of Christianity by creating a fictional life for their dead rabbi- and the greatest fiction of course was the resurrection.

Most importantly they are different because they can be. The writers know the audience both present and in the future dont know anything about Jesus so they are free to make stuff up or change what they wish.
