  I think national pride is something everyone should have as long as there are nations. There are things to be proud of in every culture.
  I don't see "American pride" being based on comparison or competition with other countries. National pride should stand on its own.

  It's not Canadian pride that has come to my attention in recent years--I expected that as a matter of fact. It's their anti-Americanism that has amazed me. We don't feel that way toward Canadians, and I think most U.S. citizens are wholly ignorant of it. I think it is sad because we could be such good neighbors. I think Canadians could do a lot more to develop tourism from the U.S. and not concern themselves with the politics. I don't.
