punk: i say this as honestly as i can, you know i like you so i will tell you the truth as i see it, the ppl who said god understands what you been through so he will forgive you, may be sincere but that is not true, romans 1 verse 20 shows gods attitute , and jesus was clear unless anyone be born again he cant have salvation. i hate when professing christains water down what they believe or water down the gospel because the truth is to hard to swallow. i see it like this if my son were real sick and i had the medicine to make him better but the medicine was hard to swallow because it tasted bad and i mixed it with water would i be helping him? no
God will forgive me....apparently

jean-luc - There is a place for you in the X-Men I'm sure.
ravens - Cor blimey guv'nor. Where you been then? Nice to speak once again.
Let me ask. Why is your interpretation of what god wants different and the more correct way than other fellow xtians? This is my dilemma good buddy 10-4 (I'm trying to talk like an American). You say one thing and quote from a book of fables the Bible and someone else proves their point (which differs from yours), by quoting another verse from the book of fables Bible. Why as individuals do we just so happen to be right in our interpretation?
I think the answer lies in delusion. God is in the mind of the believer and IS the believer. Jiminy Cricket is god.
Once upon a time I believed in god and thought the Bible was his word. I worked backward and decided to investigate if the Bible was in fact the work of a god. My conclusion is that it isn't. It's been bunged together by blokes and used as control.
Oh boy, am I on one........sorry. I'll shut up.
Ravens, you've just demonstrated what my rant is about. Peace to you mate.

Speaking from the top of my head, the Bible says often that "God finally turned his attention to ...."
I believe that God many times is busy with other things in his vast universe. It's not all about us earhtlings. We just love to be - or imagine to be - the center of all things; But a truly Almighty God will *not* have his existence gravitating around these measly creatures. He loves us, but he's not living as a function of us.

ravens - Before I fall for the Bible as being the word of god and therefore having relevance and importance, I first need to establish if it is ACTUALLY from a god...if so which god and how the existance of said god is evidenced.
I refer to my threads about proving god exists and the one about proving Jesus existed outside of so called 'bible' 'evidence'. Evidence failed to appear apart from annecdotal or personal opinion.
So. No matter what the Bible says I see it as being of no more worth than a moral in Aesop's fables or a Spider-man story.
Why should I need to be forgiven by a homophobic, racist, self agrandising sociopthic entity that gains worship under threat? If it's his permission that I be this way then he needs to beg me forgiveness for letting the world get in this state.
But then god doesn't exist as demonstrated by the way he doesn't help when you ask.

Punk, so sorry for your distress. God/Bible is a tough topic and it takes time to sort it all out.
Re: Jesus existance, all I can say is that the historian Josephus mentions Jesus in his writings. Non-biblical.
The issue with Jesus is, is he really who he said he was? If not, he was a nut. If true, he was God with us. A big issue and one the WTS knows nothing about.
Re: forgiveness, if you're a Christian you believe that Jesus died for all of us, believers or not, and all of us are sinners. So Christian teaching is that Jesus died for you, too, and if you have a sincere heart, your sins will be forgiven. Doesn't matter if you're Christian or Muslim or Hindu, Jesus died for everybody's sins.

punk I would think the easiest thing to do to avoid any guess work is to just change to another religion... LOL
Afterall if there is a god there is no way that the bible and Middle east / Christian god is the only way of worship that he finds acceptable. Otherwise the entire bible is one giant contradiction
After all God saids in the bible he desires all to live etc... so then the Chinese or Aborigines or Indians were all just throwaway people god didnt care about until thousands of years later and someone brought them the bible to teach them one truth. Buddism sounds fun... or maybe something else - who knows. LOL
