Good point Ding. I think many of these changes are being made because its becoming common knowledge that the GB never look for a took guidance from another professed anointed ones, this causes problems that they needed to shore up. But lets not forget that know where in the bible does it say the 144k are anointed or are even the ones that become kings and priests, it only states that the 144k are Sealed.

Long term the idea that the appointment over "all his belongings" will be the undoing of the glue that held this thing together. The logical understanding of this scripture has always allowed for a harsh judgement of these bros as an "evil slave". They dodged that with the statement that their judgement had already taken place and they were approved and appointed over all his belongings. This crutch is now gone and they will have to face the truth - their judgement is coming, even by their own interpretation.

My wife suggested they might be moving away from 1914 and moving toward 1935 - which would allow the 586 date for Jerusalem's fall. 1935 will be the date the name change happens and Jesus truly "took charge" of the congregation and cleansed it. Dropping Russell as an FDS allows this. Just an idea.... but keep your ears listening.

I think you are wrong. 1914 can NEVER be dropped. Sure, you can point to persecution starting in the mid-30s, war in the shape of WWII, starvation, illness, you can chew up some earthquakes - but so much is invested in 1914, I feel WT = JW = 1914 etc., 1914 is stated in the same breath as JW. If you changed THAT, then if not an exodus, then at least a massive indifference would begin. If 1914 was changed, then everything could be changed - life eternal on earth, never dying, resurrection on earth, and what would remain would only be hell, trinity and soul.

But each annual meeting from now on is something to be closely watched ......................

Surely the argument with the F&DS is that this is a "class" and the individual members of the GB have no special consecration other than being of the 144,000.

Actually, as with the Pope, Watchtower literature has always asserted that Governing Body members are appointed by Jehovah and Christ.

    *** w71 12/1 p. 727 par. 35 What Its “Right Condition” Means for Us Today ***
“The visible governing body of the Theocratic organization is and must be appointed only by Jehovah God the Supreme Ruler, and Christ Jesus the Head of His church. Its purpose is to issue directions and spiritual provisions to all God’s people. Acting in harmony with the governing body, all the Theocratic organization and its associates act in unity throughout the earth.”

    *** w71 12/15 p. 758 A Governing Body as Different from a Legal Corporation ***
the governing body of the “slave” class is not appointed by any man. It is appointed by the same one who appointed the twelve apostles in the first century C.E., namely, Jesus Christ the Head of the true Christian congregation and the Lord and Master of the “faithful and discreet slave” class.

    *** w94 7/1 p. 22 par. 19 The Christian View of Authority ***
As in the first century, this slave is represented by a governing body of anointed Christian men to whom Christ has given the authority to make decisions and appoint other overseers.

    *** w01 4/15 p. 29 Do You Remember? ***
While directors of a legal corporation are voted into office by its members, the Governing Body is not appointed by any man but is appointed by Jesus Christ.

Sure, it's buried deep within Watchtower literature, but (as with the doctrine of Christ's mediatorship only applying to the 144,000) it has yet to be refuted.

    So, Cedars,

It seems Christ has never left since 1919, since he is continually adding and removing members of the 'slave', even up to last year.

In which case, in what sense will Christ be "the master on arriving", since he never went away ?

Old Hippie - I think the massive indifference has already begun. Not sure where it goes from here, but it will be insane no matter what they do.

They LOVEEEE the new teaching/new idea that they are in the top of the Piramid now aren't they? So in that respect they never abandoned the Piramide-idea of Russell :P They collect all the money and power. The only thing they have to do is make decisions over other peoples lives and give populistic talks on conventions around the globe.

The new teaching is like all the previous teachings: a weak smokey curtain to hide the fact that there is no such thing as a slave class at all in our time.

....nor ever was. The Parable of the FDS and the Evil Slave is simply that, a parable that asks individuals to look at themselves and see what kind of person they are.

    It never was prophetic.

But, take the teaching and apply it , and you are bound to be a better person, that is missed by the J.W's because of the nonsense the WT attaches to the simple illustration, which they do without warrant, or common sense.
