Anyone use chia seeds?

    the above is quoted from a website that adveritises this stuff, so seems you can eat it raw.

    I have seen these described as a "super food" but I can see no reason why they should be. I certainly can't see why they would be any better than other oil rich seeds for energy.

    They are are relatively high in calcium and contain other trace elements. They do conating some intersting lipids including high levels of linoleic acid which great for skin lipid matrix. They also contain some Omega 3 oils that may give cardio vascular benefits.

    If you really want a real super seed use Oat (Avena sativa l), they have a similat lipid matrix to Chia, but are higher in some essential fatty acids, and contain 1,3 - 1,4 D- beta-glucan, a soluble fibre which has been demostrated to lower cholesterol.
