with regard to the UN versus religion, is motive and opportunity. The UN has no "motive" or reason at the moment.

No they don't. And neither do governments. No government in it's right mind would try to do away with religion. Religion provides the checks and balances for members of a society who lack the self awareness to regulate themselves.

If you take away religion, these individuals will go haywire because they will feel they are accountable to nothing and nobody. Governments don't want a society which is out of control. They rather have a society who thinks there is a man in the sky with a grey beard who will punish you if you misbehave.

You can absolutely have legitimate government without religion. Nonbelievers are as moral as believers. Govt. provides a safety net. We need it to live in community. People need fresh water, defense, any of the host of functions of government. Benjamin Franklin was not religious. Yet he was always setting up mutual benefit societies. Govt. is one form of a mutual benefit society. Marxists obey laws the same as Baptists. You don't need religion for people to see what is in their long term benefit.

The ability to make hasty generalizations without breaking a sweat is a common trait of JWs and ex-JWs.

    Speaking of self-referential comments....hey look!

As a group, religious people of any religion are not particularly worse or better than anyone else.

Interestingly, you only seem to get fussy with it when it's applied to your so cherished rationalist-atheist worldview. Just sayin' ... And, btw, you DO know that pre-exile judaism isn't technically speaking "monotheistic", right? I would define it as "monadikotheism" ('monadikos' = unique). Errrm, no point in looking it up. I coined that expression today

Yeah, you seem to enjoy making up theological nonsense up on the fly (BTW, there's nothing unique about the Elohim concept; many other cultures had similar concepts, including ironically, the Greeks). However, if you can manage to package it as something to sell to others, you might start your own version of Xianity (to add to the 33,000; there's always room for one more).
