WTF just happened??? An elder I haven't seen in years stopped by to hand me a XXXXXXXX !!!

  3 blocks away...and you haven't seen him for years? I live near several jws...haven't seen for years and we are inactive and have never debated/discussed WT beliefs.

  The first one could have used the garage sale for an excuse to talk to you, a CYA measure with the other elders. Or money could run his life, you would know. Is he moving out of the congregation or out of state even?

  The second evidently has a personal reason for not having contact with you perhaps to feel he has a reason to judge harshly. There are some jws that feel not attending the meetings (even not turning in any time) is a reason to shun inactive jws.

  I knew a BOE that did business with one df'd brother and rented business space from another df'd brother. They expedited the reinstatement of the df'd brother they did business with, only 8 months and he was back in.

  Perhaps be feels bad about things and was trying to make first contact with you?

  Don't forget, many people who feel compelled to do the shunning are as much if not more uncomfortable with it as you are. It is used as a way to control and condition them as well.

  It could be his humanity breaking through, to say goodbye as your nieghbor. Maybe, the flyer was an excuse to make the approach.

  He was leaving town soon and I think he had a guily conscience about giving you the cold shoulder all these years, so he stopped to say goodbye, in a lame sort of way. - and he thought he wouldn't get in trouble-- except elder #2 has found out. --oops.

  Think About It

  This elder, whom I haven't seen or communicated with in well over 3 years (and lives only 3 blocks away) drives up to my house to hand me a f**king Garage Sale flyer !!! And get this... the sale was from 10AM to 6PM and he hands me this flyer at 5:30PM (with only 30 minutes remaining).

  "No thanks. Probably only the demonized stuff is all that remains by now."

  Yea I see some guilt management there. I'm sure u were the topic about your inactivity and returning to your own vomit. Your neighbor probably didn't note anything different about u. Sounds like he just went along with the majority, as most elders do.

  I take it you are not df'd, and you have just faded? Don't elders have a responsibility to check up on inactive ones every so often? Elder 1 may have been feeling guilty for ignoring you. He may like you but has been ignoring you for no other reason except your absence from the Hall. Elder 2 seems to hold grudge with the best of them.
