    10 hours a month
    5 meetings a week
    No Beards
    Bad Association
    No school activities

What does any of that have to do with my faith in God and Jesus.

AND THEY CALL IT THE TRUTH!!!

Ritualistic Voodoo Twist, now tell me someone doesn't have too much time on their hands:)We were also banned from the twist in KY but elders actually thought the macarena was an appropriate dance at gatherings, imagine that.No ninja turtles, power rangers, squirt guns.
It was said that women who did not wear panty hose to meetings in summer but went bare legged were not submissive.I remember going into the movie rental store and if I even read the jacket of an R rated movie it was like looking all around to make sure no other witnesses saw you, crazy:)First thing I did when I left the org...bought a 2 door car and got a tattoo:) people avoid me like the plague.

The idiots who wrote that article in the 60s would have had a heart-attack if they could see a rave or a Limp Biskit concert today!

I'm sure glad we don't vote anymore like we did before we got the truth. Now we get to complain about everything ALL the politicians do!

I remember the CO said from the platform at a convention one year that Tom & Jerry was too violent! Get a grip people!

Nita...you go! Good for you. I've been thinking of getting a tattoo myself.

"...if there is a hell, I'll see you there." (NIN - Downward Spiral)
I'll be the one providing the fire.

Aside from the many points mentioned above.

    1. Being 'stongly advised' by family and Elders not to have my brother whom I was closest to as my best man OR MC at my wedding. Although 10 years my senior and living a clean, moral life with his wife and 2 kids, he was not a baptised JW, and therefore prohibited from such priviledges as per a WTS article (sometime in the late 80's) which discussed the 'qualifications' necessary for the 'Master of the Feast' and wedding party.

What a disgrace! What regret I have over that.

    2. Not being able to raise a glass and say 'cheers' at work functions or when with friends. I now make a point of doing this whenever I am around family, or former JW associates. Recent "new light" has made this semi-acceptable in JW circles - although they will still glance around sheepishly if they do it!

    cheers

    Hey Fire,

I was about to say the same thing, stop reading my mind!

But I heard this at a Sunday Public talk in Spanish when I accompanied my husband not too long ago. The brother giving the talk was so serious. He said "Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny" remember those cartoons. Just fun cartoons right? NO Friends these are VOILENT cartoons." I just had to roll my eyes and I wispered in my husband's ear "I grew up on those cartoons and I didn't turn out violent." I couldn't help myself, it just irked me.

BTW, Don't get a tattoo.. hehe.. just kidding, do whatever you want.

Ephan; Thanks for that thread-I needed to get that out.YES!I WENT.As did so many friends and family that some could not get into the church. The service was full of beauty, memories, comfort and gratitude and so unlike a witless fureral. We went from there to a crematorium,to her favourute hotel, then to an internment at a churchyard as the sun was setting in orange and purple on a hazy summer evening. And they thought I would'nt find comfort in that? Imagine how i'd be NOW, if I had'nt gone then?Apparently I proved how spiritually weak I was by going. They won't get that, how sad.
