Surely everyone knows all religion is a scam and a fraud.

Should Jehovah be blamed for the corruptions of the Borg?

Doesn't this statement suggest there being a time the Borg held honest truths? How much have you read about Russell's other companies?

Please realize this man lived in an era when prominent families were amassing vast fortunes. Andrew Carnegie (steel), Henry Clay Frick (steel), the Mellon family - heck, Rockefeller was just northwest of here in Ohio. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt, but after I read more about him, I no longer believe his intentions were so sincere.

So I feel like we are falling into the JW trap when we let them make us bitter and blame God for their disgusting behavior and lies

This is the result of belonging to a 'toxic religion'- the GB convinces ordinary Witnesses that the GB 'own' God & the Bible; so many Witnesses feel they have to throw it all away when they leave. Of course the God concept & the Bible existed long before some 19th century 'start-up' religion hijacked them.

What Farkel said and everybody else for that matter.

We are the ones to blame because we are lazy, have no desire to led, even ourselves. Along comes some entity that says don't worry, we'll do it ALL for you. Yeah, stand in front of a mirror see the one to blame.

They were never pure to begin with, and I guess to a large extent I do blame the concept of god, Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah etc. for all of the pain and loss. I say concept of god, because I no longer believe that there is a personal god who is actually involved in human affairs. It makes me cringe to think that there could even be a remote possibility of some almighty personal god out there, who intentionally allows earths masses to wallow in confusion about him. A god who has communication skills that are beneath primitive human standards of consistent and clear communication, is just not worth the time.

The Watchtower is just another in a long list of misguided organizations that have only sought to control people using the so called "inspired" bible as their authority. I hope some day that people will stop giving people like the WT$ popes power, who only end up causing so much pain and loss.

When I became convinced that the Universe is natural -- that all the ghosts and gods are myths, there entered into my brain, into my soul, into every drop of my blood, the sense, the feeling, the joy of freedom. The walls of my prison crumbled and fell, the dungeon was flooded with light and all the bolts, and bars, and manacles became dust. I was no longer a servant, a serf or a slave. There was for me no master in all the wide world -- not even in infinite space. I was free -- free to think, to express my thoughts -- free to live to my own ideal -- free to live for myself and those I loved -- free to use all my faculties, all my senses -- free to spread imagination's wings -- free to investigate, to guess and dream and hope -- free to judge and determine for myself -- free to reject all ignorant and cruel creeds, all the "inspired" books that savages have produced, and all the barbarous legends of the past -- free from popes and priests -- free from all the "called" and "set apart" -- free from sanctified mistakes and holy lies -- free from the fear of eternal pain -- free from the winged monsters of the night -- free from devils, ghosts and gods. For the first time I was free. There were no prohibited places in all the realms of thought -- no air, no space, where fancy could not spread her painted wings -- no chains for my limbs -- no lashes for my back -- no fires for my flesh -- no master's frown or threat -- no following another's steps -- no need to bow, or cringe, or crawl, or utter lying words. I was free. I stood erect and fearlessly, joyously, faced all worlds.

And then my heart was filled with gratitude, with thankfulness, and went out in love to all the heroes, the thinkers who gave their lives for the liberty of hand and brain -- for the freedom of labor and thought -- to those who fell on the fierce fields of war, to those who died in dungeons bound with chains -- to those who proudly mounted scaffold's stairs -- to those whose bones were crushed, whose flesh was scarred and torn -- to those by fire consumed -- to all the wise, the good, the brave of every land, whose thoughts and deeds have given freedom to the sons of men. And then I vowed to grasp the torch that they had held, and hold it high, that light might conquer darkness still.

Let us be true to ourselves -- true to the facts we know, and let us, above all things, preserve the veracity of our souls.

If there be gods we cannot help them, but we can assist our fellow-men. We cannot love the inconceivable, but we can love wife and child and friend.

We can be as honest as we are ignorant. If we are, when asked what is beyond the horizon of the known, we must say that we do not know. We can tell the truth, and we can enjoy the blessed freedom that the brave have won. We can destroy the monsters of superstition, the hissing snakes of ignorance and fear. We can drive from our minds the frightful things that tear and wound with beak and fang. We can civilize our fellow-men. We can fill our lives with generous deeds, with loving words, with art and song, and all the ecstasies of love. We can flood our years with sunshine -- with the divine climate of kindness, and we can drain to the last drop the golden cup of joy.

Some believers think that it is not valid argument for atheists to hold "God" accountable for anything because we don't believe in Him.

But I am confident that it is a proper argument to say "IF GOD EXISTED...."

The corruption in God's name is not the end-all, but it is part of the proof that God isn't there to do anything about it.

When using the "If God existed, then He would stop the corruption" argument, many believers perceive bitterness in the statements and then fall back on "You don't even believe in Him, how can you blame Him?" They miss out on the point of the argument and miss why there is a bitter tone because they want to say that believers really are just "mad at God."

Of course many, believers and unbelievers alike, have a bitterness when discussing the borg and their policies, the governing body, elders actions, etc. and that doesn't mean that unbelievers are actually bitter with the nonexistent "God."
