Should you pay the Obamacare penalty or buy health insurance in 2014?

Tell her to read the fine print. If you "can't be turned down for pre existing conditions", the premiums she'll pay will be astronomical, they'll be huge co-payments and any other number of ways they can think of to screw her (and anyone else who thinks they'll be able to do this) over.

No, pre existing conditions are not charged at higher rates anymore. That's kind of like the core issue of Obamacare.

I'm not sure how it works exactly (don't have time to go look right now) but there are going to be some sorts of roadblocks in place to discourage people from gambling until they actually have a major illness. (that roadblock might just be the penalties, which I'll admit aren't going to be much of a roadblock the first few years because they are phased in; they will be higher in 2015, 2016, and so on until the full penalty is standard).

It's designed to crash and kill a lot of people in the process

really... I guess we will find out .. if it's above or below the current death rate for lack of insurance!!

The people who could benefit from an economic crash are waiting on the sidelines with money to buy our foreclosed assets for pennies on the dollar- which will turn a lot of people into landless serfs for the rest of their life-- I think Obamacare was a trojan horse , designed to deliberately crash our economy. You can make a lot of money, if you know ahead of time when the bottom will drop out-- 2014, the clock starts ticking.

Intelligent powerful people have learned to use men's/women's own sin to control them and make them do whatever they want. perfect example was using the sin of racism to turn all those that would say what you're saying into racist morons, example of using men's sins against them to control them. "oh you are accusing us of what?" "ok let's see what skeletons/weaknesses/sins in you that we can get out here and those accusations will be dead and gone in no time"....reminds me of the line from Training Day, "you gotta have a little dirt on you for anyone to trust you"

i don't know a lot about the inner workings of politics, and really nobody does. . you know what politics means to rich powerful people? it means "we need this, how much money do you want?", money changes hands, and that is the end of that, very very simple. clean guy stands up, no dirt on him, bullet to the head.

only way to win is to break the bonds, and that won't be happening i doubt it. get rid of the horror movies, violent movies, all the porn, all of it, the video games , all of it....re-teach people to respect each other, to learn honor, to teach people how to be respectable and honorable, re establish trust....that is the only way to win....and i don't exactly see it happening anytime soon.

It's a real shame that right-wing extremists block every attempt to initiate the single-payer system that works so well throughout the rest of the world. At this stage, the insurance companies have brainwashed most people to believe that they are a necessity rather than a hindrance to receiving medical care. It's also a shame that Doctors earn 100X more doing boob jobs than they do as Primary Care Physicians.

It's a manifestation of our national greed.

The choices are pay for nothing, or buy something that is ridiculously priced and of crap quality. Next, I suppose you are going to be forced to buy other products, or paying a fine in the guise of taxes, for products that are totally useless. What useless products can companies put out? Some useless item that costs a monster box of silver, and a tub of silver fine per year if you do not buy it? Microchips that track you everywhere you go and control everything you think and do, cost 50 monster boxes of silver, and come with a fine of 2-3 monster boxes of silver per year if you do not buy it?

Cobra is a JOKE! We were going to pay $900 a month in case we got sick? We need single payer but we will never get that because Insurance rules the world in America. Talk about death panels.............they've had them for years.
