    Used2beme: Thank you…It’s become an obsession…to be a mom.

Diana: I am sharing this jewel with all my non-jw friends. They think it’s nuts.

Sooner: Does that beverage have whiskey in it!?! LOL

    wasblind: Grrrr

    Maninthemiddle: YES!!!

I wonder how they would react to a modern day Abraham/Sarah/Hagar situation? AND YES! I would stand up and say: “Jehovah told me he was going to bless me with a child. This is the way he answered my prayer!!!! “ What was that? Say that again…I have commited porneia. REAAALY!!! Well I thought that all these accounts were examples….

    Ok let me stop….
Do you see why I am have a hard time believing in God. L He comes across crazy!

When fertilization involving eggs or sperm (or both) from someone not within the marital union occurs, this amounts to what the Bible terms por·nei′a, sexual immorality

    What. The. F---.

How did I miss this? These loons have really lost it!

The Bible says nothing about IVF.

Why get angry at God because of what 8 cult leaders say?

Their claim to speak for God is completely bogus.

Ding: you are right...I should not get angry at God.

But then again why the heck does he allow these imbeciles to wreck his name?

If I were God I would have busted their chops a long time ago...which unfortunately leads me right back to thinking praying to my pinkie toe would give me better results in life!

It amazes me how the GB believes it has the god given directive to speak on matters which are none of its f**king business.

Those scriptures are clearly talking about fornication or adultery, to equate that to IVF is stupidity. I agree that the GB are none too fond of children, children take time, energy & $ away from their organization!

SophieG good luck on your quest to be a mum, go for it!

I have a close Friend who had bleeding problems, no transfusions allowed. It was severe, end result, hysterectomy.

She wants children badly. She knows TTATT, so banning foolish pornia , pie in the sky, from old impotent men, is not a problem. Finding a surrogate is.

Although I'm not surprised by the WTS's stand on what should be personal matters, I am surprised they allow adoption (they do, don't they?).

If you continue using dub reasoning on the matter, to adopt a child whose origins may run the gamut of "fornication/adultery/whatever" would be condoning the actions of the child's parents, whoever they are. It's simply "sexual immorality" at one more remove.

This doesn't surprise me, this organization has a history of not new accepting medical procedures they find threatening. Very sad for those couples in the religion who have fertility issues. They had previously said IVF was problematical because some fertilized eggs are eventually discarded. This is what happens when you have a self appointed group of men who purport to speak for God. This is an issue best left up to the individuals involved, but sadly most dubs will accept it.

I think Terry mentioned the WTBTS's problem with always having to have an answer for every issue. They can never humbly admit that they do not know something, or that the Bible is silent and therefore something is a conscience matter. I really don't see why they would purposely teach this. They need new members, including born-ins. I think they just screwed up because of their hubris.

Data-Dog: “I really don't see why they would purposely teach this.”

I am sure that it’s been happening and they have to address it, possibly because judgmental JWs are throwing stones at those who have made a decision to do IVF.

I recall having a conversation with a sister over this when I was in and at the time her answer was similar and seemed so profound to me. But I was young then, with hopes that I would be able to have a child with my JW hubby. That never happened.

Fast forward to today and now my life has changed and I am looking at the possibilities. I instantly RECOGNIZE the logic that this should be a matter of conscience.

And think about it, later they can spin it as: “Wait for the New System when your body is perfect and you can have children. You will be blessed because you have remained faithful to Jehovah.”
And then you’re beyond child-bearing age when your butt wakes up and you realize Paradise is not coming!!! W-T-H???

I would cut a GB Member!!!
