I was speaking more of a broad sense, the way porn has entered into mainstream society as in the late 1970's.
It really took off from that point via the home video VHS era and bloomed enormously when the inter-net started to appear.
Porn has become mainstream since late 70's yes and has become more and more accetable over the last 10-15 years.
Probably because people's view of sex have become more relaxed.
That said, sexual issues seem to be on the increase so...

The bottom line was he was hooked on porn and demanded anal sex from his wife. He forced it on her once and she refused anymore (duh) so he quit having relations with her at all and would take porn into the bathroom to satisfy his urges.
Porn objectifies and reduces the sex act to meaningless selfish gratification. It can also trigger base urges that some cannot resist.
It can destroy an otherwise loving, healthy relationship.
Some can take it or leave it but it can really mess up some young men whose only knowledge of young women has been through porn.
