It will be interesting to see the sustaining power of congregation dissolving and kingdom halls sell off to support a financially failing corporation due to bad business stradagy(end time business plan that didn't happen). Some one told me the best CEOs are the paranoid ones, and so they take what ever steps need for future survival, delusions about the future are causing great finacial stress for this corporation.
WTS closes/dissolves 435 congregations in 29 countries
On reflection, maybe the Poland thing is just a typo. If they can mix the average publishers with the peak publishers for Chile, they can certainly type a wrong digit on the Poland figures.
This report unravels more and more with each passing day. Whichever Bethelite is responsible for stitching it together should be put on janitorial duty.
it's just moving the chairs around on the Titannic here in the states. One English cong merges with another and a new foriegn language cong is formed. Calls are made to the English speaking cong to help with the foriegn language cong. One leaves the English and joins the Spanish/Korean/Farsi cong. Eventually the momentum in the foriegn congs slows down and u will see it fall in the US. Perhaps as soon as 2013
Pretty soon JWs will have to travel on average 20+ miles to the nearest kingdom hall with greater meeting attendance problems(less indoctrination) if the CEOs(Governing Body) don't come up with a different brain storming business plan, the date making business ain't gonna cut the mustard anymore. Not to mention the Governing Body's playing wack the mole with publishers by dfing all that are not up to snuff(shooting themselves in the foot is more like it).
As heartening as the Poland figure is, that does seem to be a typo. They lost about 540 publishers, which might account for 7 congregations (still a lot) but not 327.
We can always hope!
No wonder the women cant do a D to D call on a male - the males are to take over the call
And yeah, Cedars, what the hell happened in Poland?
Remember the old days when everyone rejoiced that congregations were "splitting" all the time and there were scads of elders and MS? When 5 congregations might be sharing the same KH? When circuits were splitting so fast that they ran out of COs?
My congregation in Massachusetts was shuffled into new circuits 3 times in 6 years went nearly a year between COs visits (and then got a visit from a sub). That was in the 80s. There were 10 elders and 14 MS in a congregation of about 100 pubs.
Maybe in Poland they are combining congregations because the WT are doing more sell offs in that country. But leave it to the Governing Body to fugde or misrepresent figures to quiet fears, or give false impressions to sustain a delusion for themselves and followers. They do it all the time.
They might lose more if the human punk I sent does as he is told.
Considering this is probably all down to human error, the following quotes seem poignant...
In our time, Christ’s anointed brothers use the Writing Department in Brooklyn, New York, to provide spiritual information in the form of magazines, brochures, books, and other printed and electronic material. This spiritual food, like physical food, has to be well prepared. Even Bible writers, who were directed by holy spirit, made sure that they recorded information that was thoroughly researched and accurate. Luke, for example, spoke to many eyewitnesses and “traced all things from the start with accuracy.”—Luke 1:1-4.
The Writing Department follows the pattern of ‘tracing all things with accuracy.’ But where can reliable information be found? While the Internet is a convenient and quick source of vast amounts of information, our researchers do not rely on blogs or poorly documented Web entries written by unidentified or unqualified persons....
...In summary, the Writing Department insists on using only material that is accurate and truthful, even regarding seemingly insignificant details. As a result, “the faithful and discreet slave” can consistently supply spiritual food that brings honor to “the God of truth,” Jehovah.

Situation @ The Netherlands: the Society closed in 2012 mainly all the foreign field congregations and let them merged into the Dutch congregations. A few foreign congregation (English language) still exists, the others (Most of all English, and all French, Arab, Papiamento, Russian) closed definitely down. That must be the reason of the decline of congregation numbers in The Netherlands.
The closing of the foreign field congregations was backed by the story that Dutch witnesses went to the foreign congregation for being out of sight of their original congregation, a kind of fade away.
