Mike Huckabee, "We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we have systematically removed God from our schools."

If God is so easily "removed" from schools then I don't see how he'd be able to stop a bullet.

Besides, those innocent little children had nothing to do with the "removal" of God from their school. Why blame the victims? How does that help?

There is a "type" of public school called the international Baccealaureat (Spelling may be off). It does not teach "God", but does teach (in every class) citizenship. It is taught in all grade levels, in every class and in many of the assignments. For example, there will be a story and one has to then reflect/write on the story (plot, characters), and then discuss the IB learner profile that it showed. I wish all public school systems adopted this model.

However, I don't know if this would have helped this young man. He was "off his rocker" as my grandma would have said. He had a mental/nervous condition and was incapable of feeling apathy for others or pain for himself. Today, God doesn't fix these problems, and more then He can heal a paralyzed person.

    From the IB learner profile:

"The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

    IB learners strive to be:

    Inquirers

They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning . They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.

    Knowledgeable

They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines.

    Thinkers

They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.

    Communicators

They understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.

    Principled

They act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. They take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany them.

    Open-minded

They understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience.

    Caring

They show empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.

    Risk-takers

They approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and forethought, and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies. They are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs.

    Balanced

They understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others.

    Reflective

They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience. They are able to assess and understand their strengths and limitations in order to support their learning and personal development.

I think of Huckabee as one of the most sincere guys from that side of the political spectrum. Some of the things he has said about what happens when you don't support Wall ST as a candidate are spot on. He is a a bit of an old foogie at times, but what he is saying here is very clear: "Having kids like Adam scared of Hell wasn't ALL bad." Which is true.....Had Adam Lanza's fear of eternal damnation been enough to make him just go home a jack off or play video games, we would all been better off on Friday. I don't think he is necessary saying all the other b.s. involved is worth it, but I am sure he feels it might be.

Had his love of jacking off been greater he would have been home jacking off. Had he been a horrible heroin addict he would have been in an alley passed out. Had he had a stronger sense of decency the thought would never have occurred to him.

Saying he needed a fear of eternal damnation in his life is just silly. Lots of Christians don't believe in hell, just look around this forum...

Schizophrenia and severe Bi-polar disorders can reach their pitch before age 25 as the brain continues to grow. Securing firearms in one's home should be law. Telling us the Christian God is sending us a message or was actively involved in this tragedy is both ignorant and hurtful.

Bryan Fischer spent the first hour of his radio program today discussing this morning's truly horrific shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, which he, of course, blamed on the fact that prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments are not taught in public schools.

Fischer said that God could have protected the victims of this massacre, but didn't because "God is not going to go where he is not wanted" and so if school administrators really want to protect students, they will start every school day with prayer:
