And that goes along with "why would you have to ask?"

"It is absolutely safe to have sex during your period, provided that you don't use this time as a free pass to have unprotected sex. The myth that sex during your period is dangerous originates largely from religious texts. Scientifically, however, there is no reason not to have sex during your period.

In fact, sex while you are menstruating can help ease the symptoms of PMS if you achieve orgasm. An orgasm releases endorphins, natural painkillers and mood enhancers, which can help with the cramps, headaches, mild depression, and irritability sometimes associated with periods. Also, many women enjoy sex more when they are menstruating because of increased feelings of fullness in the pelvic and genital areas, which give you a head start on arousal.

There is one caveat, though: Safe sex is even more crucial during your period. A woman's risk of sexually transmitted disease and infection is higher than normal during this time because the cervix opens to allow blood to pass through. Unfortunately, this creates the perfect pathway for bacteria to travel deep inside the pelvic cavity. A woman is also more likely to pass on blood-borne diseases like HIV and hepatitis to a partner during her period, and she's more likely to develop yeast or bacterial infections because the vagina's pH during menstruation is less acidic. Finally, there is still a chance that you could get pregnant during your period (unless you're on the pill), so don't assume it's safe to forgo contraception....

It all depends on the position... and the type of sex... yummy!

OK, this reminds me of some wonderful lyrics from a 1980's punk rock song:

"I was chowing down and something tasted weird, ran to the mirror, saw blood on my beard!"

What a flashback topic. As I have posted before, I gave the Watchtower outlined public talk, "The Godly View of Sex and Marriage" at least a dozen times. About halfway through was the Leviticus scripture quote. It was framed as a question to the audience, "Does it seem fitting...etc".....and then a pregnant pause. The obvious prompted answer was NO.

I had more than one brother approach me to say that he and his bloody wife ignored that t of t month and did the talk mean they should not do it?

Personally, neither my wife or I cared for sex at that time of the month. But I told them, as I understood it, it was a matter of conscience. What horseshit. So typical of the Brooklyn weirdos flexing their control muscles on matters of personal intimacy.

Can you imagine the confession to the elders?

"Yes, it was a bloody mess, Brother Limpdick. I have sinned and now my unit looks like blood sausage, which, of course, would be a sin for any JW to eat!"

There is a product on the market that makes it possible to have sex during that time. It is somewhat like a diaphragm, it contains the blood. I believe it can also be used instead of pads or tampons. I don't get "the curse" anymore, so I don't have to worry about it, but when I was younger I sometimes appreciated a break from my "wifely duties", so I confess I was glad to have an excuse. But I don't really see anything wrong with it if both partners are willing. If you are in a committed relationship, disease transmission shouldn't really be much of a problem..

MK - slightly higher risk for stds, possibly on both sides, as the cervix may be more open.

Why would that be of concern to a Christian?

I am not sure why anyone would look to the Archaic, sexist rules of the Old Testament for advice on sex.
