Some of my favorite people are/were gay --- my famous hairdresser, another as a colorist -- another a neighbor. Unfortunately, some have died and science can't work hard enough in this arena. I wasn't about to drop these great individuals because I was caught up in the cult. I'd shop at my #1 store and one of the clerks would hang out with me the entire time helping me select "farm" dresses to wear to meetings --- he had incredible taste for even ugly clothes. Of course, a JW employee or two in store observed this weekly. I had no desire to "fit" in and be connected w/that strong circle of the congregation my study conductor was always telling me about.
