Ethos there are about 200 bible verses that talk about 'Causing your brother to Stumble' http://www.openbible.info/topics/causing_your_brother_to_stumble

Now consider Matthew 24:36, Acts 1:7 nobody knows when the end will come.

So knowing that why would the WT set dates if they know they can stumble brothers.

Someone that sets dates knowing the above either is foolish or God actually told them. What does the WT history show?

How can the FD be discreet if they were setting dates. Are they so discreet that hold the RECORD for the most wrong doomday predictions? Check http://www.bible.ca/pre-date-setters.htm no other religion organization can beat the so called discreet slave.

No consider Luke 21:8. Isn't that what the WT is doing. They claim to be appoited in 1919 ('in Jesus name') and keep saying 'The time is near' didn't Jesus said not to follow them?

Now we both agree that the Watchtower has made a lot of errors. So tell me what would happen to me if on the next time the WT says that disobeying the FD is the same as disobeying God I say:

"Brothers we all know the FD has made a lot of errors in the past so take it with a grain of salt."

Or everytime a brother says we should listen to the FD because they know better I raise my hand and comment 'The FD doesn't always know better some brothers have died because of their mistakes'

Would I be kicked out? df if I don't change my mind? Would they call the police on me?

Luke 21:8 warns to be wary of those claimin' the " Time is at hand "

and thats exactly what the WTS claimed and distributed the book

titled " Time is at hand"

The WTS has all the marks the bible warns about. That's no stumblin'

that's scales fallin' from our eyes

"Now, the whole scientific method is based on the opposite premise. There are no extraordinary claims of divine direction. It is assumed that a hypothesis is human, and it is the obligation of the scientific community to devise experiments to either prove or disprove the hypothesis. The more ironclad the experiment, the more reliable the result. The experimenter goes on to publish the work in a peer-reviewed magazine, and again the community is invited to attempt to duplicate the results. These further experiments either validate the hypothesis, or to prove it flawed.
This rigor in inquiry is not met by depression and despair, but is indeed welcomed. It is only by offering a claim to scrutiny and review is the truth revealed.
Any scientific claim, no matter how cautiously presented, is therefore more thoroughly trustworthy than any extraordinary and untested pronouncement by a religious body." Jgnat, page #4

Regarding 1914: The January 1, 1908 WT stated: "We are not prophesying; we are merely giving our surmises . . . We do not even aver that there is no mistake in our interpretation of prophecy and our calculations of chronology. We have merely laid these before you, leaving it for each to exercise his own faith or doubt in respect to them."

Regarding the calculations of chronology leading to the year 1914, what happens if I choose the "doubt" option being offered by the January 1, 1908 Watchtower? Will I be allowed to carry on inside the spiritual paradise, arm in arm with my family and freinds? Or will I be called into a back room with three men waiting to end those relationships?

    AMEN Bro!!!

The use of the jargon term 'stumbled' is just a way of avoiding 'accountability'.

Should the Watch Tower Society be held accountable for its errors? Yes.

Excellent way of looking at it, Jeffro...

Of course we do have to remember that Rutherford continued to teach what Russell taught and even said Russell was continueing to direct the society "from beyond the veil.". The Studies in the Scriptures contined to be distributed by the Watchtower Society until 1929. In fact, many of Russell's crazy teachings were not totally discarded until the 1940's.

I don't believe "stumbled" is really an appropriate word in this subject, I would rather say the plain ridiculousness/hypocrisy and blatant double standards adopted by the WTS which causes that huge drain on converts that they clearly hemorrhage. Say for example the UN scandal in which the WTS secretly joined allegedly to gain use of the library and then publicly lied about when thier membership was exposed, I and probably many countless thousands would never have had too much of an issue if the WTS had honestly admitted it had joined , but the bare faced lies and dishonesty that surrounded this scandal made them nothing short of a laughing stock, and the preceded and past condemnations of the so called "Churches of Christendom" who aligned themselves with this "wild beast and harlot" made them world record holders in terms of absolute hypocrisy, like wise the Malawi/Mexico scandal that saw the dreadful treatment of thier own brothers, sadly more dreadful hypocrisy and double standards, and recently the terrible child abuse scandals which rock the WTS world wide. The prospect of the WTS being the "channel" which God favours on Earth today is just as preposterous as Eve being deceived by a serpent or the fable of a global flood. The scripture in Duet 18, without any shadow of doubt identifies them as false prophets, plain and simple.

Ethos I'll patiently wait to see if you can satisfactorily answer any of these objections?
