Christ , being a 100%, mental construct can stand for whatever the devotee wants, he can support any nuance of any word and can supply invisible authority to those whose arguments cannot stand alone. Christ has supported crusades, the subjugation of women, torture, eternal punishment, war, peace, gays, homophobia, free love, sexual purity, environmentalism and Republicanism. Christ is everyman and is the best invisible friend since he always agrees with you, you have the authentic Christ even though billions of others have tried , and failed, to get the exact message that was saved for you, you dear xian are the chosen one.

    Yes.

MP: Why didnt Jesus speak out against these fraudulant laws and passages ?

    TEC:

Why not just speak as to the truth instead? People are supposed to listen to Him. If one continues to look backward, then one is not coming to Christ for life and truth. He did also correct much of the misunderstandings in the law, by teaching truth about it in word and deed.

    mP:

He should have noted that large portions of the OT are fraudulent because lots of people like you believe them to be true and actually beieve and follow them. He pointed out the errors of the Pharisees but he couldnt point out the corruption other religious leaders past and present had made to the word of god ? Seems mighty strange he wastes time on some leaders who will die eventually but the Bible which lasts much longer and has a much greater audience he lets continue in its corrupted form ?

    Thats utterly stupid.

The bible is not opposed to slavery nor are any of its principle characters , though a good case could be made for Lucifer/Promethius.

    mP:

There is no character called Lucifer in the Bible. Some dishonest scholars and religioous leaders have change a scripture talking about the morning star aka Venus and made it into a God. This text has barely a dozen words and yet they have invented an entire personality and mapped it to Satan etc when the text says nothing of the sort.

Why do you write so much telling us jesus did this and thought that, and yet you can never provide a more than a single scripture. It would appear from one scripture you have invented an entire encyclopedia of thought and wisdom and good deads. Too bad you can give the world a cure from cancer or something tangible.

Yet the bible tells us some other disturbing facts which you plain out ignore even though its there in black and white. If you wish to invent attributes well thats your choice, but please be honest about the stuff thats written down. YOu can ignore those texts but that doesnt change reality. THis is the same lunacy where Muslims claim so many wonderful things about Mohammad down to the outright rediculous , like his piss smelt like roses and other he went to the toilet perfectly. But hey they still kill each other and others today because someone draws a cartoon about a dead guy. How can a cartoon hurt a dead guy who is friends with God ? If its a such a big deal, why doesnt God step in and defend Mohammads honour ? Perhaps Mohammad and Allah are just inventions like Jesus.

I don't even understand this OP...

Jesus talked about 'just looking at a woman' and would have ignored the elephant in the room of slavery???
(By the way, Jesus example would have sufficed about adultery too - following the arguemtnt.)

You add to that, Paul who gives council on how to be a 'good slave' for your Owner...

There is no use rationalizing. Jesus didn't find slavery important enough to mention it. Says a lot about him IMO.

You fail to appreciate that women in jewish time were a lesser class than men. Jesus was giving instructions to men. He was basically saying men, dont look at married women because they are the property of another jew. If you read the last of the OT this way then it makes more sense. It of course is perfectly harmonous with the fact that women are never addressed. Examining the OT we can see its attitude to women is always as a subserviant vessel and never as an equal and never does it give any advantage to women. No matter what even in cases of rape they are too blame. At best they can be bought as long as their father is paid his due breeding fee. We can see the same where Paul says that women are too stupid to learn stuff and should listen to men as they are head of the household. WOmen of course have no rights in the bible except to be property of men.

This attitude continues today to some extent in places like Saudi Arabia.

While I absolutely agree that scholars( priests?) have created a being called Lucifer I would argue that that is a valid observation about all the biblical characters. I think the meme of Lucifer as light bringer is valid though fairly unimportant.

go read the scripture again and you will see its talking about venus wich is a bright star before sunrise. Thereis no spiritual statement there just a simple observation of really happens in real life.
