Giving little Jimmys money for a printing press.

We were visiting a foreign Bethe a few years ago and we stopped to visit a brother that must have been close to the top, forget his rank. He had an opened envelope with a piece of paper currency that was probably worth less than a dollar. With it was a letter where a young brother had sent in his money to help with the work.

The brother in charge pulled out the paper money and handed it to my son as a momento since it was so colorful!!!

I know that this was not much money, but still irks me that he was willing to just give it away like that. I still am awestruck at the thought of just tossing this little boys offering to another member and did not make sure that it went where it actually wa supposed to go.

I have witnessesed (no pun intended) bank accounts with hefty balances just sitting earning interests in CDs. Rates are too low to earn any serious money anymore.... Not earning enough, paying high settlements, buicks and pick up trucks expenses for COs and other elite brothers, etc. Yeah, I can definitely see the "need" for more donations.

I don't believe he did, although I may have missed it as the focus on that thread turned towards pornography and the upcoming KM School. I got wind of this letter after a brief discussion with our Secretary and didn't realliy have time to delve into it all with him. This letter that will be read goes into Sir82 touched on regarding tithing. They obviously foresaw that some people would throw tithing accusations out there, so from what I understand they're going to emphasize that whatever is donated should be from the heart. I could be wrong but I believe the letter has more to do with CO visits than anything else, although again I could be wrong. I really need to get my access to the website updated again. I keep brushing it off.

They recently read a letter about the annual cost per publisher for the CO's car and insurance.

I wanna say it was about $13 per pub total.

Why they need more $$$ for printing presses, ink and paper is beyond me, since they have cut the Watchtower and Awake sizes, and have them available on-line

It's kind of backward for them. I'd imagine the countries that can afford the technology to download and reduce printing costs for their area probably donate more than average. And the countries that can't afford the technology and need the more costly printed publications probably donate less than average.

But I'm guessing it has nothing to do with printing.

you know, everyone should put in their fair share. Why not "fire" the GB and hire full time consultants. They get a salary and GO HOME at the end of the day. Benifits of course and then pay taxes on their salary. They can also contribute to the organization from their salary.
