    from that link...

In the passionate world of American atheism, the venom usually directed at believers has now been turned against the wrong kind of atheists.

LOL...wrong KINDS of atheists? Since atheism does not have a 'kind' that's just funny.

Just goes to show, anone can set up a group or organisation and claim to represent others. How they can claim to be the right kind of non believers in a god I just don't know.

I had no idea there was a right and wrong way to not believe....ROFL

"Humanism rejects religion. It attributes nothing to the so called 'supernatural'. In this there is an awakened liberty that releases us from the shackles and servitude mentality of old superstitions so that we may realize our full potential."

The sort of humanism you describe is not the only kind of humanism. I am a humanist, yet I am not an atheist.

    Ayn Rand was an atheist.

Atheism seems like a very diverse unbelief system, with the only common thread being a rejection of the supernatural.

I would expect lots of elite clubs to emerge from that, sometimes with opposing interests.

Ayn Rand was an egoist, though, who happened to be an atheist. She was not a secular humanist. Some believers in deities are egoists, and some are humanists.

Just goes to show that atheism in and of itself means one thing and one thing only ... a non-belief in a divine being. Period.

    From Wikipedia:

When the first letter is capitalized, "Humanism" describes the secular ideology that espouses reason, ethics, and justice, while specifically rejecting supernatural and religious ideas as a basis of morality and decision-making. [ 7 ] Religious humanism developed as more liberal religious organizations evolved in more humanistic directions. Religious humanism is a unique integration of humanist ethical philosophy with the rituals and beliefs of some religion, although religious humanism still centers on human needs, interests, and abilities.
