i have been out 18 months now and after 35 years i had my first xmas lunch with my dad, i was so excited, and i also gave my daughter her first birthday cake as she turned 16, i think that as a jw we missed out on so many things all in the name of the interpretation of the wtbts of gods word.

I've been celebrating life every since I walked away from dubdumb over 40 years ago. Every once in a while my celebrations land on holidays and I double celebrate!

I have to admit when I first started celebrating holidays, it dii feel a little weird. I guess growing up as as a JW still affects me a little. I don't have the extreme excitement about christmas etc like my wife does. Every year it is easier to celebrate. I am still learning christmas songs and whatnot. It was difficult at first because I wasn't sure how I was supposed to feel.
All in all I do love the holidays.
