You can't be that naïve with your comment.
The hospitality industry (hotels, restaurants, etc.) and local stores love to have out of town people in their city. They are generally guaranteed to stay at hotels, eat at restaurants every day, buy gas, supplies, and everything else they may have left at home.
This is business. Whether it is a JW convention or an Appliance sale convention, cities love the revenue.
