The UK is a separate country from Australia with separate laws. Even within Australia there are different regions with different laws, like Norfolk Island. Australians need special permission to visit or move to Norfolk Island.
The Isle of Man, Channel Islands for example are separate legal entities with their own laws even though most people think of them as part of the UK.
