Too many libtards on this thread. Bottom line... it is the printing of money that is causing the rise. Currency dilution... stimulates inflation...

you can bet the electorate is going to take a good hard look at Obama's energy policy

So exactly what part of his energy plan is problematic? Increased fuel efficiency? Diversifying? Investment in alternatives?

The major Refiners are already exporting record amounts of gasoline and we are producing more natural gas than we have storage for or demand at this point. Chesapeake energy, Cummins, Westport, Clean Power among many others are producing the engines and stations to use natural gas. Smith UK just opened a factory in Kansas for their commercial all electric vans. Toyota and Mitsubishi have excellent hybrid cars with US plants. US National Oilwell Varco is making the new safer deep ocean platforms and has backorders for 2 years.

One of the issues not spoken of is that the oil industry does not have enough engineers to properly man all of the wells and platforms in production and in planning. Safety first.

IMHO Mr. Obama is a shitty president. But he is not to blame for rising gasoline prices.

    Botchtower,

Do you ever refer to mainstream publications?

Every specialist and reporters on a wide range of stations states that any president has littlel control over oil. I don't think focusing on only one aspect is helpful. Bush may not have opened up a larger supply. Politicans say nonsensical stuff all the time. Neither party is factual. One needs to factor in environmental damage to the equation, too. Oil cannot be isolated from the consequences of raping the earth.

Sooner or later, we will deplete oil supplies anyplace in the world.

Obama is considered black in the United States. If he were perfect as Jesus, he would still upset people. George Bush had no clean hands. No one has. The worse for me so far was the period when Jimmy Carter was president when gasoline was rationed. My mom used to wake up at 3 am and stand in line for hours, then she had to report to work as normal. I recall waiting for a bus to NY in the winter. No one was driving. It was like the Twilight Zone or something. We need every energy source we can get.

I'm now paying £1.46 a litre for diesel at the petrol pump. Plus, here in the UK, we pay an enormous fuel tax to the government on every litre we buy, yet fuel tax is going up again in August.

    Scarcely Obama's fault.

This will give those of you across the Atlantic some idea of what we pay over here.

I recalled reading this thread when I came across the following article.

The bias is clear and honestly admitted . . . but has the media become this politically polarised in the US?
