Why Can JWs Eat Turkey On Thanksgiving & Still Say They Aren't Celebrating?

I don't know about the local dubs. If any of them cooked a turkey on Thanksgiving, I sure never heard about it. I got the distinct impression that it was not considered proper. I got a lot of flak for not going out in field circus on that Thursday and Friday. I tried it a couple of times, but it was just so awful interrupting people who were trying to get a big meal together or trying to get ready to go somewhere.

I also never heard of a post Christmas gift day or any sort of un-birthday celebrations. The only things that were considered acceptable were baby showers, bridal showers, graduation parties, weddings, and anniversaries. The anniversary celebrations were only done for major milestone years - 25 years, 40 years, 50 years. Otherwise, it was kept to just the immediate family. If the local dubs were doing anything else, I never heard about it.

The one major party every year was the Super Bowl party. We didn't get invited this year.
