Free film screening at the University of Toronto next Wednesday, October 19th at 6:00 p.m.

Emmanuel College of Victoria University in the University of Toronto presents:

How They See Me (Without Seeing Me)

    A film by Erin McMichael

University of Toronto, Emmanuel College, Room 119 75 Queen's Park Crescent (located south of Bloor Street West, directly outside of Museum Station on the east side of Queen's Park Crescent)

The screening and faculty panel discussion is free and open to the public.

There will be three senior tenured professors from across Anthropology, Cinema Studies, and Religion Studies speaking afterward about the film. (This might be the first time that a series of academics will gather for the sole purpose of discussing disfellowshipping practices.)

Sounds like an intersting event. It would be good to hear what the academics have to say about it. Can anybody be there are report on it?

I really wish I could be there, and at the very least I hope something is posted where I can read about the results, and the comments by the academics. And of course I hope I can see the short at some point too.

Does anyone know why she was disfellowshipped? Since it's 3 weeks after waking from a coma, I wonder if it was the blood issue. That would be wonderful if that were the issue. I know the focus is on shunning, but to be shunned for saving your life adds a twist that many people have lived.

Edit to say: wonderful in the sense that it will get peripheal attention---not that she found herself needing blood.
