Although a little off-topic, Quendi, what religion or group are you in? Is it christian? If so how do they explain the scriptures in the Bible the WTS uses to condemn homosexuality?
Because of this point and of course many others, I have put the WTS and the Bible in the same boat, but I'm still open-minded, and wonder at why anyone would still believe in the Bible after being in the WTS.

The love in the bible refers to caring about the salvation of the lost, the same way it would hurt if you had a relation with bad habits.

The following is a rant..if you don't want to hear it, don't read it, but I just had to say what was on my mind after reading some of the comments from here and elsewhere.
I have to say, that I am a little perturbed by some who feel because gays have ONE DAY OUT OF THE YEAR to hang with other gays and feel SAFE and proud of who they are, it annoys them. So, gays now don't even have a right to assemble together and have fun? Curious to know why people don't seem to have a problem with Mardi' Gra..which is a total free for all.
You know what annoys me? Someone getting the shit beat out of them because they are gay. What the hell did this person do to you?

A person who feels there is no way out of the miserable life they have because they feel they CANNOT come out of the closet, and so they have to LIE to please everyone around them. Last I checked, it is wrong to murder, and is even in the 10 commandments, is it not? Must trump being gay, cuz there's not one commandment in all the 10 about it. I've never seen: AND THOU SHALT NOT BE A LIPSTICK LESBIAN, BUTCH DYKE, BEAR, OR FLAMER OF ANY KIND, have you?
So, who's the worst person? ALL OF US! We were born into sin and we will die sinful. So stop thinking you are soo much better because you are a JW and/or Christian hetero. Gays love God and Jesus, too. Just ask us! And if you think God loves you more because you're straight...uh oh, better refer back to those scriptures that state Jesus died for ALL mankind. Don't think I ever read he died only for straight people, or JW's or...that's right ALL PEOPLE! Just deal with it as Jesus would deal with you in your imperfections.

Oh goodie, a preacher. And so you equate homosexuals with terrorists and murderers? Actually I don't claim to be a Christian, so maybe that is dead on. But I have met Christians who have a different view of such things. They feel that the bible gives much more emphasis to love and charity than to the negatives---therefore they feel their faith should too.
Is it possible, Free, that your gay friends make a point of identifying themselves because the assumption is that we are all hetero? I have a number of gay friends, and they don't actually announce repeatedly to me that they are gay. However in the comfort and acceptance of our association, they freely express themselves and their view of the world---which is from a gay person's eyes. So you may not BELIEVE that you are always announcing your heterosexuality, but you probably are. It's just that no one takes note, because it is expected. Oooo look at that hot guy walking down the street! If we are in a group, and woman says it, we take no real notice. If a man says it---well now they are flaunthing their homosexuality.

I'm guessing because straight is the assumed default orientation. Similar, if theist wasn't the assumed default, there'd be no need to identify as atheist.
