Strategizing against the WTBTS

I'm not sure activism is an attempt to "influence someone to leave." I think it is better viewed as providing information to a lock-step JW that he/she would never think to even seek on his/her own. In and of itself it probably won't get someone to leave, but looking back on my life, all the little things added up, and people on the outside telling me things did stick in my mind.

    I agree Mad,

It's information that usually frees JW's. Strategies then simply become creative ways to get that information into their hands, bypasing the systems of control the Society has installed in order to prevent JW's from being exposed to that info.

I am fading away and working on some family members. They agree with many of the points I have brought up. What is interesting is they have said " are there others out there who see the hypocrisy within the organization? How come they are not speaking out?" This campaign will reach some of those who are waiting to see that they are not alone in realizing that the Governing Body has fired Jesus as King and is sitting on his throne. Once you realize that you are not the only one who sees this it is empowering.

There are certain things you can do I think. At this point, I am collecting information. I need names and addresses (or home phone numbers) of as much elders as possible. I have about 200 right now, please send them to me by PM or if you want to e-mail me, PM me.

Whether it's worth it, I don't know but we'll see.

On Wikileaks you can find a CIA sabotage manual which has lots of ideas and there is also this one: http://iranchannel.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/OSS-Sabotage-Manual.pdf

Essan, my experience was that "studying" with jws didn't help much. I kept asking questions, and they were honest enough to keep coming back and trying to research answers. But when they had to fall back on "don't know", it was always accompanied with something like "but I'll never let doubts about little things () keep me from Jehovah."

I guess if they are not ready to reconsider, no information will get through.

Is anyone doing something of helping the kids that are kicked out of homes for not wanting to be baptised and/or remain active? Like, helping them to find accomodation, work, higher education? Or even just mentoring and socialising?

I think ex-cultists are missing an opportunity of helping one another. Steve Hassan's approach of holding up examples from other groups to show someone parallels in their own is the most effective way to help someone wake up and smell the coffee. Ex mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses need to draw the parallels between the way their cults operate.

    That's it!

Just target every JW that knocks on your door.

Don't scare them off. Play the game. You made a ship load of mistakes when you opened your big mouth and scared your family into brain dead mode. Learn from those mistakes and don't make them with the Dub at the door.

..... and once you have got through to them, tell them not to repeat the mistakes you made with your family.

How many people would like to learn more about the lawsuit between Mr Steven Unthank vs Christian Congregation Of Jehovah's Witnesses (WBTS)through an independent journalist? If you have not heard about this lawsuit, please read the thread by Barbara Anderson http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/child-abuse/213724/1/Victoria-Australia-Steven-Unthanks-Press-Release-JWs-Hierarchy-Formally-Charged-Today-With-Child-Abuse. I am not trying to target JWs as much as I am trying to target "Worldly" people, politicians, and hopefully English speaking imigrants. The downside is that JWs will feel more persecuted, but the upside is may be politicians will think about creating similiar child protection laws in other countries. I just submitted the following story idea to NBC Nightly News at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10285339/. People can also submit letters to:
    NBC News
    30 Rockefeller Plaza
    New York, N.Y. 10112

The more people who write to NBC Nightly News the more likely that NBC will cover the hearing in Australia. This is the what I wrote:

This story idea is for an update to the pedophile story that NBC Nightly news ran in November 2007 about the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21917798/). I was wondering if Lisa Myers, Richard Greenberg, and/or Australian affiliated reporter/cameraman would be covering the hearing in the lawsuit between Mr Steven Unthank vs Christian Congregation Of Jehovah's Witnesses (WBTS). Mr Unthank is attempting to have members of the Governing Body of the WBTS and others charged with criminal violation(s) of Victorian’s child protection laws. If you want more information about the lawsuit, you can read the information on http://jwnewsnetwork.wordpress.com/2011/07/26/press-release/. The hearing will be held in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court of Victoria in Gippsland, Australia on 13 Sept 2011 at 09:30 AM (https://dailylists.magistratesvic.com.au/search-court-lists/search-results.aspx?id=19779764&type=Criminal).

If you would like more story ideas and an inside perspective of the WBTS, NBC reporters should visit support forums for ex-Jehovah Witnesses (e.g., www.jwsupportforum.com, and www.jehovahs-witness.net), as they help each other recover from being in a destructive cult, as defined by Steve Hassan. Also, many ex-JWs post youtube videos about their lives as JWs and how they have been shun by JWs as encouraged by the Watchtower, which is printed by the WBTS.

Thank you in advance for reading this and considering this story.
    Sincerely,

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

The problem I see is that I think it would need to be very sophisticated and subtle. Doing research and preparing leading questions might work for a few weeks. The Witness will freak out when the "interested person" does not comply with study rules. I believe a CIA agent could pull it off. My tendency , though, is to overthink about problems and then not end up doing anything.
