I had one (Elder) who loved to pick on the sisters who had an unbeliveing mate......He had short mans syndrome and got a kick out of it.
CO, Han Hubler...anyone that knew him will know what i mean.
He was so disliked it was hard to get anyone to have him for a meal when he visited.
Yep . . . remember the Hubler variety in spite of trying hard to forget him.
The last Congo I had any meaningful association with had a PO and wife who were about the nastiest people I've ever met . . . ever.
Harangued and hasselled an elderly brother over a personal dislike . . . tried to coerce him into signing a pre-prepared DA letter, refused to hold a funeral for his wife and tried to prevent anyone else from assisting. The elderly brother eventually sold up and moved town's along with no less than 5 other families within a few months. He tried to intimidate several brothers into selling half shares in thier businesses to him. He was also instrumental in the suicide of a 17 year old over a ten year old grudge with his father.
He and his wife were probably the prime motivators in about 15 - 20 questioning and eventually leaving the cult . . . so I guess we can thank him for that. Even a CO described them to me as "that bully and his Jezebel".
There was one CO - I think his name was DaCinti or something like that - who would end every talk with a threat of death at Armageddon if you didn't follow whatever he was ranting about. He would somehow bring the topic around to the first hours in the New System, then put his hand above his brow as if looking into the distance, and he'd say "On that day, we don't want anybody saying of US, 'Say, has anybody here seen brother or sister so-and-so?'" In other words, 'do what I say or you won't be there.' He was also a pretty nasty guy apart from that, as I recall. A real so-and-so...
This is abuse just like child abuse and physical abuse. I'm sure other elders and jws saw this and stepped back and allowed it. I feel that they are just as responsible for this kind abuse.
There were 2 kinds of abusive elders, the abusive ones and the ones that sat back and allowed it.
In an earlier post I told of an elder that was touchy feely with the young sisters who were terrified. He tried it on me and I broke his finger and told him that I would break the rest if he didn't stop. Did other elders know about this elder's abuse, yes, because at least 2 sisters had complained to them...but they did nothing.
Hearing stories of abusive elders by eyewitnesses of it make me wonder what was going through the eyewitness's mind. I hope it was some twisted feeling from their jw conditioning that they didn't step forward or at least help the abused individuals. I hope that they would step forward now.
There were two Branch Committee members in London who were, without doubt, two of the most sinister persons I have ever had the misfortune to meet. The truly unnerving thing was the facade of pleasantness that they both maintained, whilst maneuvering behind the scenes to exercise an almost tyrannical authority, engaging in power struggles, and arranging for milder persons to be demoted and eventually shoved out of the branch. Everyone knew what they were like, but as BC members, they were untouchable, unless we gathered evidence and spoke to the Zone Overseer, as we did once.
One of them was from New Zealand, and the other was an elderly British brother, whose wife was well known for her sharp tongue and viciousness, towards younger Bethelites. The excuse proffered was that she was getting old, and may be suffering from senility. Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth - the sister was permitted to speak to others how she wished because her husband was an influential member of the BC, and he himself was not much better. I once had the misfortune of witnessing her giving a withering put-down to a 33 year old man, in front of his wife, in the couple's own home. Instead of asking her and her husband to leave, the man simply accepted it, whilst the husband sat there chuckling to himself. It was very very embarrassing - we were so shocked. we left shortly afterwards, whilst the miserable couple had to continue to play host to the elderly couple.
There was also a couple in one of my old congregation that were so evil (there really is no other word for it) towards their own boys that one of them simply fled the family home, and the other was disfellowshipped and thrown out on the street shortly thereafter. Never have I seen such a loveless treatment of an individual - and he was disfellowshipped simply for looking at pornography repeatedly, and it was his own mother who informed the elders. The complete lack of love he and his brother were shown over the years as they were brought up, as the parents "enforced" WT directives such as "Bible Study", "appropriate association", and so on, marked them out as truly nasty. The husband was desperate to be appointed an elder, and was growing visibly angry at remaining a MS for over 10 years, whilst I was there. I dread to think of the poor brothers if that man has been appointed!

I have succeeded in erasing the memory of all but one CO/DO and I found out here that he is dead.
Jerry Crana. A truly sick, emotionally twisted human being. I actually felt sorry for him, at one point, in spite of all the harm he inflicted.
Rodriguez still gets First Place for the biggest rectal orifice, however.

I don't remember the name anymore but it happen back in the late 70's. I was out in service with the CO. He ask me why I was not doing more in the cult. I told him my wife and I was just blessed by Jehovah with a baby boy and I had to work more to support them. Back then 5 dollars a hour did not go very far. He told me Jehovah did not bless you with a baby all I did was have sex with someone. I have forgotten his name but never what he said to me. To me he was one of the most evil persons on earth. Totally ADD
