honest hearted students of Bible prophecy

Only problem is , is that the WTS. has been a dishonest corrupt publishing house from day one.

Unfortunately some people cant discern where is the corruption in religious organizations, there

    are many to be sure.

There's nothing wholesome or Christian about that, hence the reason some have said that the WTS. is

inspired by Satan, the father of the lie.

    Hi Interestedone,

Much easier than my posting lots of quotes here would be for you to take a look at a site like JWFacts.com and look at it's section of quotes regarding 1874 and 1914. There is also a collection of quotes at www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk.

Those two should provide more than enough evidence of the Society's modern lies about what they used to teach regarding 1914 and Jesus presence.

Here's a recent example of, shall we say, some misleading statements.

    w04 3/1 p. 14 pars. 6-7 'The Faithful Slave' Passes the Test!

The ten virgins remind us of anointed Christians before 1914. They had calculated that the bridegroom, Jesus Christ, was about to make an appearance. Hence, they "went out" to meet him, boldly preaching that "the appointed times of the nations" would end in 1914.-Luke 21:24.

They were correct. The appointed times of the nations did end in 1914, and God's Kingdom under Christ Jesus went into operation. But that was in the invisible heavens. On earth, mankind began to suffer foretold "woe." (Revelation 12:10, 12) A time of testing ensued. Not understanding things clearly, anointed Christians thought that "the bridegroom was delaying." Confused and facing hostility from the world, generally they slowed down and virtually stopped the organized public preaching work. Like the virgins in the parable, spiritually speaking they "nodded and went to sleep," even as unfaithful professed Christians did after Jesus' apostles died.-Matthew 25:5; Revelation 11:7, 8; 12:17.

Then in 1919 something unexpected happened. We read: "Right in the middle of the night there arose a cry, 'Here is the bridegroom! Be on your way out to meet him.' Then all those virgins rose and put their lamps in order." (Matthew 25:6, 7)

But the belief had long been:

It was evident, then, that though the manner in which they had expected Jesus was in error, yet the time, as indicated by the "Midnight Cry," was correct, and that the Bridegroom came in the Autumn of 1874, and he appeared to the eyes of faith-- seen by the light of the lamp--the Word. Afterward it was seen that the thirty years of tarrying between 1844 and 1874 was the exact parallel to the thirty years of tarrying at the first advent, from the time the wise men visited the babe until Jesus stood on Jordan and was anointed with the Holy Ghost for his work, at thirty years of age. (`Acts 10:38`.) - ZWT 1881, Oct./Nov., p.289

And this belief was still current in 1913:

Our Lord declared, "The wise shall understand"; and He told us to "Watch" that we might know; and it is this chronology which convinces us (who can and do receive it by faith) that the Parable of the Ten Virgins is now in process of fulfilment--that its first cry was heard in 1844 and its second cry, "Behold the Bridegroom"--present-- was in 1874. It is this chronology and none other which awakened us to trim our lamps, in harmony with the Lord's promise through the Apostle, "Ye brethren are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief." - ZWT 1913, Dec. 15, p.375, (reproduced 1907 article).

It was only in 1923 that the timing of the parable's fulfillment began to be modified. See WT 1923, Oct. 1, "Virgins Fair," p.291ff.

It's a bit complicated, but consider in the context of "let the wheat and weeds grow together until the harvest..."

1874 - Christ's parousia did begin. This is when "Michael stands up" (Daniel 12:1).

    1874 - Begins 120 years of Noah's last generation, 1874-1994.

1866 - Bible students become "temple in its right condition" for 110 years until 1996.

1914 - A world war, nation vs nation, kingdom vs kingdom, begins "last generation" of 80 years, 1914-1994

1914 - Begins vineyard work of 11 hours, 7 years each, 77 years from 1914-1991.

    1935 - Third hour workers identified as "earthly class"; 3 x 7 = 21; 1914+21=1935. Two-class organization begins.

1940 - 7-year great tribulation (Holocaust) begins against Jews and JWs; cut short in Spring of 1945.

1947 - "End of the gentile times" on November 30, 1947.

1947 - End of 1290 days. Messiah arrives 45 years later to fulfill "1335 days" in 1992.

    1947 - 70th jubilee of 49 years begins, 3430 years from 1435 BCE, ending in 1996.

    1950 - Prodigal son "pre-messiah" born.

    1960 - Prodigal son "pre-messiah" baptized, at age 10.

1989 - Beginning of 70th week of 2nd coming. "Two witnesses" point to 2nd coming, December 21, 1992.

1991 - End of 11 hours (77 years from 1914) of vineyard workers. "Last hour" begins, 1991-1998

    1992 - WTS joins U.N.

1992 - November 10, "man of lawlessness revealed" as GB of JW.

1992 - December 21 (solstice) WTS/UN derail 2nd coming for 3.5 days, kill two witnesses.

1992 - December 22, Fred Franz executed by Jehovah for assisting UN to derail 2nd coming.

    1992 - December 25, 2nd coming occurs, 3.5 days after prophesied date.

1992 - December 25, fulfills "1335 days" after MOL revealed on November 10.

1992 - December 26, glorius sign in the clouds appear confirming 2nd coming.

    1994 - End of "last generations"; 80-year 1914-1994, 120-year 1874-1994.

1996 - End of temple covenant with JWs and end of Jewish covenant.

1998 - End of "last hour".

1998 - "Cry in the night" alerts 10 virgins messiah had arrived in 1992. Wise separate from foolish virgins.

    2008 - May - Sealing of elect end (i.e. 1,440,000)

    2011 - May 21 - Great tribulation begins?

2012 - December 21 - Millennial rule of Christ officially begins?

The watered down generic claims for a particular year are about as significant as a fortune cookie telling you "this year will be significant for you".

What sort of WARNING carries no details?

Imagine a large sign that says "BEWARE of some things!"

Sound ridiculous? This is what the bible students speculations about 1914 amount to when you consider the following fact:

SPECIFICS WERE GIVEN AND THOSE SPECIFICS WERE DEAD WRONG.

1.Worldly governments would be brought to an end. Did this happen? NO!

2.All religions (but the bible students ecclesias) would be destroyed. Did this happen? NO!

3.Jesus would return and bring Armageddon upon the wicked. Did this happen? NO!

What does this leave as part of the "warning?"

The INVISIBLE JESUS RULING IN HEAVEN theory which---being invisible--cannot be falsified in any way!!

The above 3 could be falsified and were falsified because they were testable.

In view of the falsifications, how could any honest person make a CLAIM for accuracy and appeal for your trust??

    Hi :)

I have a further question for the really informed researchers among you.

I know- because I have read it very recently - that the Society has falsely claimed that the Bible Students proclaiming ahead of time that Jesus would become King and be Present from 1914 (which they didn't) was "remarkable evidence that Jehovah was using them".

Or at least, the wording was similar to that.

But try as I might I can't locate that quote or any like it where they specifically claim that heralding 1914 ahead of time (as the Parousia) was proof of their being Jehovah's people . I need that quote. It's an important claim, because it shows the motive for lying. I am putting some quotes together for a JW friend and this one or one like it would be really. really useful. Do any of you know of it or one like it? Help!

    Today

“He went forth conquering and to complete his conquest.”—REV. 6:2.

CHRIST was enthroned as King of Jehovah’s Messianic Kingdom in 1914. How do we imagine him now in our mind’s eye? As a contemplative king sitting on his throne, glancing down to earth from time to time to see how his congregation is faring? If so, we should revise our opinion. The Psalms and the book of Revelation depict him as an energetic king on horseback, riding forth “conquering and to complete his conquest,” continuing to ultimate “success.”—Rev. 6:2; Ps. 2:6-9; 45:1-4.

    2

Christ’s first kingly action after his enthronement was his victory over “the dragon and its angels.” As the archangel Michael in command of his angels, Christ hurled Satan and his demons out of the holy heavens and confined them to the vicinity of the earth. (Rev. 12:7-9) Then, in his role as Jehovah’s “messenger of the covenant,” Jesus came with his Father to carry out an inspection of the spiritual temple. (Mal. 3:1) He judged Christendom, the most reprehensible part of “Babylon the Great,” finding her guilty of bloodshed and of spiritual adultery with the political system of this world.—Rev. 18:2, 3, 24.

    Cleansing

    HisEarthly

    Slave

    3

The inspection by Jehovah and his “messenger” also revealed in the earthly courtyard of that spiritual temple the presence of a group of true Christians, who were not part of Christendom’s churches. However, even these anointed Christians, or “sons of Levi,” needed to undergo cleansing. It was as the prophet Malachi had foretold: “He [Jehovah] must sit as a refiner and cleanser of silver and must cleanse the sons of Levi; and he must clarify them like gold and like silver, and they will certainly become to Jehovah people presenting a gift offering in righteousness.” (Mal. 3:3) Jehovah used his “messenger of the covenant,” Christ Jesus, to cleanse these spiritual Israelites.

    4

Still, Christ found these same faithful anointed Christians doing their utmost to provide timely spiritual food for the household of faith. From 1879 onward, through thick and thin, they had been publishing Biblical truths about God’s Kingdom in the pages of this magazine. Jesus had prophesied that “on arriving” to inspect his domestics during “the conclusion of the system of things,” he would find a slave providing them “food at the proper time.” He would pronounce that slave happy and would “appoint him over all his belongings” on earth. (Matt. 24:3, 45-47) As Head of the Christian congregation, Christ has used this “faithful and discreet slave” to administer His Kingdom interests on earth. He has provided direction for the anointed “domestics” and their “other sheep” companions by means of a Governing Body.—John 10:16.

Yes it was a lie. If you can't see that then you are a blithering moron, or as much of a liar as they are.

The Society claimed they were preaching Christ's Presence and Kingship as beginning in 1914 ahead of time - before 1914.

They were not. They didn't teach this until at least 1930. They were teaching - as fact - another date entirely for these events: 1874.

Hence, it's a lie. Get it? All your subsequent extensive wafflings don't change that nor will they be allowed to cloud the issue or distort the obvious fact that the Society LIED.

Sorry to be blunt, but I don't have much patience for defenders of lies and liars when the case is so thoroughly clear cut and beyond legitimate dispute.

    Was it really a lie?

Yes, it really was a lie. The most obvious lie was the many-decades old teaching that some people who were old enough to "understand" the events of 1914 (the generation of 1914) would still be alive when Armageddon came upon the world. It was repeated again and again - millions now living will never die.

This had to be changed recently when it became obvious that these people were practically all dead by now.
