Impressions of a Jehovah’s Witness Convention

I was minding my own business, shooting B-roll for my videos at the 2008 District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I was accompanied by my pudgy little dwarf assistant, Marcus, an endearing brave whitewashed Mexican youth counselor who had shoved his Buddha torso into jeans and a T-shirt two sizes too small, adorned with a black leather studded belt and too much product in his hair. Marcus had the creeps and was googling cult deprogramming specialists on his iphone should he suddenly be overcome by the desire to stop off at JC Penny to look at polyester suits and book bags.

Jehovah’s own little Men in Black, were watching and following me from a discreet distance with their walkie-talkies and Attendant name badges. They had questioned me. They insisted I needed to check in with the media office. It was a public event, my contributions had gone to help fund it, I was not the only person attending who was video taping, and I politely stood my ground.

Then Robin approached, an older sister with a Stepford smile and June Cleaver politeness. She seemed, at first, genuinely interested in making me feel welcome. I asked if I could videotape her. She nodded enthusiastically and smiled in a way that made me suspect her toothy clench was a near-perfectly practiced cover for dentures that sometimes slip. She was curious about my presence at the convention- I was secretly, but finally living my lifelong fantasy of wearing a bowling shirt, cargo shorts, and flip-flops to a JW event, and holding a mini-DVD.

Robin never missed a beat after her diplomatic welcome, and I was immediately pitched on and directed to the nearest folding table where Watchtower publications were being piled and handed out by volunteers to Jehovah’s Witnesses lined up rather methodically to receive their copies . . . contribution boxes strategically placed on all sides to remind JW’s that drinking “life’s water” really isn’t free. It struck me that the lines of convention delegates had the manner of those you see in line at McDonalds. McDonald’s junkies eat the crap every day because it’s convenient, and they don’t have to actually think about anything or cook, but they are too conditioned- too glutted and jaded to really care what’s in it or how healthy it actually is for you. All of them were, spiritually and intellectually, Morgan Spurlocks at the end of Supersize Me.

Just try and separate an “adequately qualified to teach ordained minister” of the CULT of the PUBLISING CORPORATION from his Watchtower publications. It’s like a DVD player without a DVD. It’s just no damn good.

The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society boasts of more than 7 million “ordained ministers” worldwide following closely in Jesus’ footsteps in preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom.

Everything Jehovah’s Witnesses think and do is centered on the worship and adoration of the Watchtower Society’s Governing Body and their bimonthly rags filled with spiritual fast food, The Watchtower and AWAKE! magazines.

JW drones attend annual District Conventions where public discourses and scripted anecdotes and Bible dramas are enacted dangling the heavily wilted carrot of everlasting life in a paradise earth, coming any day now, and the threat of terrifying and everlasting destruction at the hands of a pissed off Jehovah, coming any day now, if you do not get out there and publish, biotches!

At these conventions, front men of the Watchtower Society mentally masturbate delegates, lulling them into a glassy-eyed bovine-like frenzy methodically grabbing new book and brochure releases from off of folding tables . . . and where “Bible students” sufficiently brainwashed are dunked into a ridiculous lifetime commitment to slowly drown peddling those same publications at every opportunity.

The Govern Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses through the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, Inc., acts as a faithful slave only to their ultimate undeclared, but rather clearly stated aim- to usurp Jesus’ roll as appointed mediator between God and mankind, and to exert total control over JW rank and file. They work hard to ensure everyone is dumbed-down , glutted, and enslaved, no, dependent on and ADDICTED to a steady diet of erroneously translated Bible passages that support their blatant double-speak, intellectual dishonesty, theological absurdity, and rhetorical fallacy. A not-always-so clever variation of Bible “truth” creates a unified ignorance Jehovah’s Witnesses are just too damned arrogant about.

I thought at first that this was a new approach by the WTS , putting their vids onto YouTube.....but I now concur with boreanbiblestudent that it seems to have been lifted from their media website and posted up by an individual.

I do not think they will like that very much
