If Armageddon came tomorrow, would Jehovah kill a billion children?

I don't think that needs any excuses. Even after "tough love" the people didn't return to God. How sad.

    cofty:

The Absolute God is so much more than "he who forms the mountains, and creates the wind."

Those physical things are only a reflection of God. We're talking maybe 1 percent of his (and hers!) infinite Glory.

The sun is not a fire ball as we have been led to believe. It is like a pinhole in a water balloon letting a very small piece of god flow through to us.

    "tough love" wow!

Tammy was wrong when she said "we cannot be more moral than He is".

I'm far more moral than your god.

If He created "morality" then no, you are not cofty.

Tough love - can't wait to use God's version of tough love on my kids.

But he didn't create morality. Morality is based on empathy not laws. Interesting that the unbelievers appear to be the more empathetic.

Thirst, starvation, plague and the sword. That ought to teach them to love god more don't you think?

    Stockholm Syndrome perhaps?

And this is why I ask all my babysitters if they are fundamental Christians. I like to know who thinks it might be Godly to strike a child.

You can see the progression of his punishment

    1. I gave you empty stomachs in every city
and lack of bread in every town,
yet you have not returned to me,

    2. I also withheld rain from you
yet you have not returned to me

    3. I struck your gardens and vineyards,
destroying them with blight and mildew
yet you have not returned to me

    4. I sent plagues among you
    as I did to Egypt

    5. I killed your young men with the sword,
    along with your captured horses.
I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps,
yet you have not returned to me

    6. “I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
yet you have not returened to me.

So what else was he to correct them? They were HIS people. There was only so much discipline he could give before he had to punish them. Remember he is a god of love, but he is also a god of JUSTICE.
