Unlike what Doubtfully says, here is the truth of the matter. Countries like Sudan and Russia also persecute Baptists and other minority religions as much as they do the JWs. Check out Forum18 and Amnesty International, JWs are just one of many many other groups and individuals that are targeted for their beliefs. For years China "persecuted" anybody with a Bible. JWs like to say that the persecution against them identifies them as the only true religion - what they fail to mention though is that rarely is their persecution isolated to just them as a group.

In S. Korea, for example, JWs love to tout how they are persecuted for conscientious objection - when there are just as many, if not more, non-JWs that take that stand as well. Some do it individually, others do it as part of a group. Remember Gandhi succeeded far beyond the JWs in getting people to take a stand of pacifism.

Legally sometimes JWs lead in defending the matters, & occassionaly, if they succeed, it benefits all the groups. Other times it is another group that files suit, and the JWs along with others benefit as well. For example, when the Oral Roberts tax thing went down the JWs filed some kind of 'similar interest' support and basically alligned themselves with a member of Christendom - hoping to be able to sell books and magazines without being taxed. Roberts lost and the JWs stopped charging for the books and went to donations only.

But the point is - JWs are rarely alone in their legal matters, much less their persecution. JWs like Doubtfully, and possibly some of us former JWs, may notice when JWs make the news for being persecuted and think - 'wow they really are being persecuted'. But it's simply selective awareness. Kind of like when you get a new car, and afterwards you see that a lot of others have that same car, whereas before you didn't notice so much.

Take for example, the director of the documentary Knocking. That movie could only be made by somebody who was raised a JW. Nobody else would have his selective awareness - nobody from the outside would ever see the JW world as he did, because it just ignores too many other individuals and groups and religions that have been through similar legal issues. He might as well have made a documentary on the ACLU and Dr. Kevorkian - both would have addressed basically the same points he made. Or he could have made similar points with Quakers, Amish, Orthodox Jews, SDAs, etc. But he didn't because that was not his background. Our background on this forum is one that is related to JWs and thus that's why we have this selective awareness. Most of us want to have a more open awareness in trying to move forward. Someone like Doubtfully though will never see her beloved religion as just a drop in the bucket - which is all it is, like many many other organizations and religions, even when it comes to persecution.

Also - the one thing JWs love to do now is make the media aware anytime somebody spits in their direction. I may be wrong, but I know of no other religion that has a dedicated "Media" website that pretty much screams bloody murder at every country that takes a stand against them or their tactics. Whatever, happened to not letting your left hand know what your right is doing? Isn't there also a scripture where Jesus condemns those that are making a fuss over how much pain and sacrifice they go through to serve god - and doing it in public?

Anyway - to Doubtfully, I'm glad you still feel it's ok to disobey the religion you love so much by coming here and spending your time with disfellowshipped apostates. It must be weird to pretend that you're a true believing JW while at the same time giving them the finger by coming here. For that we thank you.

justinfrombethel: you drove the point home. other groups are getting the same treatment. sometimes theres a time to keep quiet though, as it says in the good book. the wts doesnt give a shit about the regular jws...sending them out in the service to the wts, having them promote their own agendas...oh well i guess in spiritual warfare you will have casulties. the wts dont send their young men to war, but theyll gladly offer them up as martyrs for the organization.

Well I'm glad to see someone being honest.

The JWS have in the past proclaimed that they were the only Christian based faith being persecuted and banned which

is a dishonest lie. The WTS. will postulate lies when they're are making statements concerning its organization.

Likewise indoctrinated JWS will also lie openly to support the WTS. which they are a member of.

So much misinformative lying by a organization that proclaims they are the one and only " truth ".

I guess thats crass commercialism done religiously.

They are not only disliked for their condemnation of everybody and everything that disagrees with them they also take up allot of time fighting things in court and it can cost a fortune to prosecute cases so slows down the worlds political process. They are run by lawyers that believe fighting in courts is the same of giving a witness. I think using the courts actually makes you part of the political system .

I think its ironic and perhaps equally disturbing when JWS see themselves being persecuted from preaching the Watchtower

that they perceive this as a form of validation that they are the true Christian's, where other religious organizations are simply not.

Must be that long progressive mental indoctrination that JWS go through, blinds and sickens the mind to reality.

Why is doubtfully yours here? I know when I came here I was in direct violation to come here! I even swore I would never visit an apostate site when it was put to a vote at the 2006 convention. You must not have attended that one.

    DoubtfullyYours:

    You must be a young'un..

Try Forum18 on the web =this is an independent, objective factual reporting of religious world news --- you will see how all religions are being persecuted -no matter what their faith -- so the statement that we are being persecuted shows we are the right faith is WRONG -- Jesus meant Christians of allsorts, any who profess Jesus and worship of God --- I am a JW but in no way do I believe that just because the society says we are being persecuted for our faith, that those other faiths are not being persecuted for trying to do what they believe also -- even Muslims in some countries, Baptist, anglicans, Bahai's --- granted, the Muslims hold Mohammed as the highest prophet but believe in Jesus as well, as he is to come and destroy Satan --and some followers think Allah and Jehovah are the one God almighty..

Its just not Jw s who are in jail worldwide ------- and as far as Mexico goes, the society allowed them to buy cards and not be persecuted the same time as the brothers and sisters in Mozambique were being raped and murdered because they were told NOT to buy political cards...

Check it out.. keep your eyes open like the Boreans did, remember the lesson today.. prove prove

Jehovah's Witnesses is an American Religion!

Foreign countries look at the infiltration of Jehovah's Witnesses as an Americanization of their way of life in their countries and they object to it.

Take the door to door work for an example. When Russell started the method of spreading his message he sent his people out to reach others, by climbing into a horse drawn wagon loaded with books, and going from farm to farm in rural America along with other snake oil pedalers. Ever since then door to door work has become an obsolete, outdated, ineffective, in your face, sacrament of their religion. yet they continue to insist on it. A dictionary definition of sacrament: :” a Christian rite (as baptism or the Eucharist) that is believed to have been ordained by Christ and that is held to be a means of divine grace or to be a sign or symbol of a spiritual reality.” So, door to door work is a symbol from which you get kudos from God, even though it is the most unproductive method of reaching people today.

Knorr sent two missionaries to Communist China , Jones and King. He insisted they go door to door, and they obediently obeyed those instructions as an unchangeable, unmodifiable strict commandments of Jehover himself. They were thrown into prison, solitary confinement for five and seven years, respectively. Very little progress has been made in that country by the Witnesses. Yet, if you look up on the net, Christianity in China, you will find other religions have made substantial gains in Communist China.

I was sent as a missionary to Muslim, Pakistan. Again, American arrogant stupidity were the instructions. Knocking on doors when the husbands were away working, and trying to talk to their women. Futility! A few years before I got to Pakistan, there was another missionary, a single man, who used to go out in the villages for several weeks at a time. He would go and play a mouth organ in the open areas of the villages, and the children would come around, then adults would also come and he would give them a simple message about the "Kingdom". He was removed from the missionary home, why? Because when he returned to the home, after some days in the desert villages, he would come back all dusty and smelly, and the other orthodox missionaries found it offensive.

I hope you get the drift. I hope you can see the "foreigners" point of view.
