Spade, what is your screen name on TOPIX?

I have read your post there:

An item of interest in some of these stories, is a person's religious affiliation in connection with a crime is only mentioned if they are or were one of Jehovah's Witnesses. If a Mormon, Scientologist or member of Christendom's churches for example commits a crime, their religion is not mentioned in the media with the exception of religious leaders of some importance.

Spade To put it in a nutshell. Any group that regularly make themselves out to be much better than the average, is going to get slated when their religion produces the same problem people as say any other religion. If they said that they have exactly the same problems as others and that they are no better or worse, then no one would have a go at them. Quite simple really.

alanv you have said it all! That is exactly right.

To the victim the paedophile's background is irelevant the damage to the victim is the same.

However, it is the fact that we expect more from a Christian person, higher standards etc. etc. that therefore they are going to get more criticism when they commit the crime than if it was say an atheist. Furthermore, it can be argued that because someone is a Jehovah's witness our expectations are so much higher, our barriers are down and we are far more likely to trust them and let our guard down thus giving them more or easier opportunity to commit their crime.

It is for this latter reason that they will be criticised more than others.

    the true one,

How can you possibly know who has moved onto Christ? Religion is a private matter. It is backed by all kinds of privilege that recognize this. No one can know another's heart or if one believes in God, how can God would judge. Furthermore, I don't think Witnesses who believe should change their beliefs. It is their sacred right. A right enshrined in all Western democracies.

Furthermore, why should someone who doesn't believe in Christ, believe in Christ. Good atheists and members of nonwestern religions abound. Perhaps they are closer to God b/c they lack western arrogance. It is impudent to suggest that jewish person convert.

What is the point of leaving the WTS to merely be another cultist with narrow thinking? Or was the following a parody?

If you don't have a logical response or refutal; just spout some unrelated gibberish.

That works all the time if you're eleven. Act your age.

Atheists and religious minded people alike claim a moral high-ground above others. For secular minded people, science for example has taken the moral high-ground. If Jehovah's Witnesses are being singled out, this means there's something that stands out as unique in the mind of the person making them an item of interest in the media.
