I had a conversation with my brother a while back and I was venting about my frustrations about the Watchtower.
After some heated discussion my brother told me that "he needed to do more Bible study because he felt weak."
I bit my tongue because I felt this to be a little comical.
This is something that Witnesses are taught to do. If they start to question the doctrine they are programmed to seek further indoctrination.
The interesting thing about my brother's statement was he used the buzz word "study."
Think about the term "Bible Study" for a second, what should that entail?
Remember, the Bible is an ancient artifact. To truly study it would require almost a life's work. But this is not what my brother was referring to, he was referring to seeking out Watchtower literature which offers commentary on the Bible.
The Bible should be approached similar to a scientific theory. The Witnesses claim to have "cracked" the Bible code so-to-speak. The leaders are the ones that have dedicated their lives to the study of the artifact. But before taking their word for it we need to simulate all aspects of the tests they made on the artifact to confirm.
Do Witnesses do this? Is this the "Bible Study" they are constantly referring to?
Actually, we all know what that buzz term means. It means digging deeper into the commentary of Jehovah's Witnesses and not the actual Artifact itself.
