I too stopped going in F.S first, I could see no support for 1914 in the Bible, I eventually found this site and thence found out the truth about the JW/WT beliefs and set-up.
Your name is interesting, Hoffnung, as many years ago here in the U.K there was a raconteur, after dinner speaker type named Gerrard Hoffnung.
He recorded a version, on the old 78RPM LP . of the old story of "The Barrell" a builders labourer attempting to get some bricks up on a high scaffold. Made more hilarious because of Hoffnung's excellent comic timing.
This has been done since in an Irish version, which is equally as funny as Hoffnungs.
The reason I mention this is that, many years ago, the WT sponsored "Awake" magazine published a version of the story, (not so well done as the proper versions) in their "Watching the World" section, as though it actually happened !!!
They were not awake enough to realise that it was already out there as a joke, those sheltered bethel boys !
