How would HLS know if you're going to hospital without you contacting them?

Hospitals in our area maintain such records. I went for an MRI at St. Joe's, and they verified that my contact information and that I wanted bloodless medicine. I had them clear that part of my record.

    Blood Management Awareness Week

This week is sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management , Franciscan Health System and Transfusion-Free Medicine and Surgery Blood Management Awareness Week: November 1-5, 2010 Lecture Series: Friday, November 5, 2010, Lagerquist A and B, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

    View the lecture schedule.

St. Joseph Medical Center is proud to join the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM) and healthcare organizations worldwide to celebrate the 4th annual Blood Management Awareness Week. This week is dedicated to educating patients and healthcare providers about advances in blood management and optimal transfusion practices. Blood management utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to optimize patient care by judicious use of blood, blood components, and derivatives, along with strategies to reduce or avoid the need for transfusion.

It is a common misperception (even among physicians) that blood transfusions are uniformly safe and improve patient outcomes. While it is true that the blood supply is safer than ever with regard to infectious disease risks, emerging research suggests that even a single blood transfusion is an independent risk factor for an adverse outcome, such as a prolonged hospital stay, infection, and even death. Thus, it is imperative that clinicians understand the risks and benefits of blood transfusions, and the existing alternatives, in order to provide the highest quality of care to all patients.

I've written up a document explaining that I am no longer one of JW's and will accept any all all medically approved treatment to save my life. I also made my husband my POA, just in case my mom decides to pull out a blood card that I signed when I was nine. I did this before I was married to, explained to my closest friend and put in writing that she was POA and had full authority to override my parent's wishes in cases of medical treatment. Heck if I'm gonna die as a martyr to a religion I quit believing when I was still in HS!

Hey Justitia....My father died at St Joes (mentioned in your post above). He wasn't a Witness and didn't have the services of the Liason Comittee. Based on what he had learned in the 60's and 70's during his "free home bible study" and to make my Witness sisters happy, he filled out the blood papers after being assured by his doctor that there was no way he would ever need a transfusion. The internal sutures they'd done during surgery hadn't held and he was bleeding internally. By the time they figured out what was wrong, he had lost so much blood that they couldn't go back in and re-do the sutures without doing a transfusion. He was unconcious and couldn't change his mind about the blood papers. My sister was sitting on the end of his bed while he lay there unconcious. Suddenly he bolted upright, scrambled across the bed with tubes and wires still attached. He latched onto my sister with all his might just pleading to her with his eyes for help and suddenly died in her arms. (she's never been the same) My Wife and young boys and I arrived just as this was happening. We saw the door of his room fly open and they threw my fainting sister out the door. We saw them throw him back down in bed and go to work on him. We had to get my sister pulled together so we could find out what had happened.

All the brothers and sisters who came to his memorial (not held at the hall of course) said he'd surely be resurected because he died pleasing Jehovah. All my life they indicated he was going to die at Armegeddon because he had come to an accurate knowledge and didn't get baptized. Two or or three years later they tell us it's ok to use blood fractions. I wanted to wring somebody's neck....still do.

This is real stuff folks....be sure you know what you are doing is based on accurate information.

As far as I'm concerned, those heading this organization have an additional "millstone" tied around their necks, over what happened to my Dad and what this experience did to my family (Luke 17:2 )

My x husband tried to get the HLC involved when my granddaughter,Aubrey, age 11 was critically injured. She was never a dub, and her mom, my daughter, was never baptized and never considered herself a dub...leaving the organization when I did. He was relentless. Would have overruled my daughter's decisions on Aubrey's treatment if he could have. He has since gone behind my daughter's back in an attempt to get Aubrey, now 12 to go to meetings with him. He was stopped dead in his tracks when my daughter found out.

When my son David was about 12 ( I was da'd by this time, and I had custody) my x gave David a blood card to carry with him. David gave it to me. My x listed himself as the only parent, and his info to call in an emergency...and that no blood was to be given. By then my son didn't believe any jw stuff, but was forced to go to meetings during visitation with his dad. Obviously I took the card...and confronted my x on his sneakiness.

If you ever Suffocate to Death..Due to of lack of a Blood Transfussion..

Have somebody take a Picture of you Dying..And..Have them post it on JWN ..

I know I`d like to see it..

I said something similar to that Mary bitch. She wasn’t amused. Feel free to take in all the blood you want. You can even become a vampire. Let me guess; you're one of the busy-bodies, meddlers in other people's affairs that make the medical treatment of others your business. It’s not.

HLC arseholes should be their official title. A friend of mine was forced into attending a sub-standard hospital when giving birth by these idiots. Her baby was breach and being strangled by the umbelical cord. The 'hospital' confessed that they had no Oxygen (!) She was rushed by ambulance to the nearest equipped hospital 30 miles away. She now has a brain-damaged child who cannot talk, but it's alright because she did what Jehovah wanted, and was faithful to the HLC's wishes.

All glory to Jehovah and his earthly mouthpiece

I have gone toe to toe with them twice in texas....yes, they can be stopped, and escorted

out by sercurity!! Two of the best days of my life!!

OH....just mention a personal lawsuit, that helps too!!

But, because of HIPPA, they do not have access to medical records!!

They only have the authority YOU allow them to have!!

Have their sorry asses escorted out, and tell them if they come back,

there will be personal lawsuits against them, and one against the WBTS!!

Seems Americans have things sewed up, (HIPPA was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1996). ... here in England the HIPPA doesnt apply....

OMG exwhyzee...that is a horrible, horrible story. I am traumatized just reading it; I can only imagine the effect it had on your sister.

And YES, YES, YES, HIPPA does protect you. They can have ONLY the information that you allow them to have. HIPPA is a FEDERAL act, so threaten the hospital with a federal lawsuit. AND, you can recover money JUST for the violation of the hospital giving them information you did not authorize.

crazyblondeb...that must have felt flippin fantastic! ;)
