Mary,
They said that Jehovah's sabbath rest didn't begin until Jehovah finished creating, which meant that the sabbath rest should be measured from the creation of Eve, the last direct creation.
This was important because the millenial reign was supposed to parallel Jehovah's sabbath rest (end of "6th day" = end of 6,000 years since Jehovah stopped creating).
In the 5/1/1968 WT (p. 271), Freddy said that Adam and Eve were created, at most, a few months apart, both in 426 BCE.
But in the May 1, 1975 Watchtower (p. 285), Freddy got cold feet and said that we don't know the length of time between the creation of Adam and the creation of Eve, so we can't say for sure just when the 6,000 years will end.
As far as I know, they never retracted this explanation.
Let's see: 1975-2010.
I guess Adam waited at least 35 years for Eve to be created.
Must have been LOTS of animals to name.
I never understood this whole sabbath rest argument anyway.
Doesn't the Watchtower teach that Jehovah only directly created Michael and that Michael did all of the creating after that?
(I don't agree with this, but it's WT doctrine.)
So, according to the WTS, didn't JEHOVAH rest from HIS creating the moment he created Michael?
