I remember one time when I was married to the ex...a nasty JW MS who was a fake..horrible at home ..sweet in the K hall...anyway...he insisted on subjection..and I wanted to do things right...we were renting a house ...rather insecure...and we saw a new development of secure housing starting in the near neighbourhood....I pleaded that we apply for one of these houses...and I pleaded...he said 'no, and I'm the head ...so dont'

I didnt ...but I prayed about it and explained the situation ....some 2 years later...the project was finished ..houses were built...really nicely...

A letter came through the mail...'you are being offered a house on a plot of your choice on the ****** development'....my ex said 'How? why? '

'I prayed' I said. We got the plot of our choice and a brand new house....thanks to prayer. He hated that...and the JWs thought I was crazy to believe my prayers were so answered...whatever....

Yes. But the stories won't mean anything to anyone but me. And even I am skeptical when I get something I prayed for - like I would have gotten it anyway - to my own detriment, I think (as in my conscience, not as in I'm going to be struck by lightning). I never had that problem with pure and easy faith when I was younger. I KNEW I would get what I asked for in prayer, and I did. As I got older, I forgot about that, and I started getting more cautious. I'm starting to remember.

Tammy...remember the scripture in Hebrews that says we must believe we will receive what we ask for...

Loz - I remember, and I know. I have said before that belief in the power of prayer is something that the WTS took from me - and of course, I let them. I, and I alone, bear responsibility for that.

I'm praying to remember faith and gain strength in it and the power of prayer. Funny (ironic perhaps) thing - I BELIEVE that WILL happen. And so it is.

God answers the prayers of casino winners everyday, right?- the losers, I guess, need to work on finding a better prayer formula.

Remember when we were all told to pray and then work in harmony with our prayers so they'd be answered?

Well, duh! They were answered, weren't they?

To me it means that we answered our own prayers after waiting and waiting for an answer that never came.

I got sick of waiting so took it into my own hands.

    Yes. Big old prayer answered.

My oldest son was growing up and I was getting lonely. He was gone all the time with friends. I had stopped dating a few years before to focus on raising my son. I decided it was time to start dating again. I sat down and wrote out a list of 10 things I couldn't stand in a man and 10 things I absolutely had to have in a man. I told God that what I wanted for Christmas was the man for me, the one who fit my list to a tee, and that I wanted more children.

I met my husband on Christmas Eve. We've been together ever since, almost 10 years. His first wife died and they had two children, whom I have been raising for years and years. My husband met the requirements of my list perfectly. I've often referred to my husband as my Christmas present.

If I'd known God was going to be so specific in answering my prayer, I'd have added more things to each side of the list! he he he
