Hi Slimboyfat! Thanks for sharing. Evidently Splane is using "Provincialism"whenever he speaks..

That is, appealing to the tendency to identify closely with the thinking, belief, even the prejudices, bias or ignorance of a particular group, and to see things largely from the standpoint of the in-group verus the out-group.

It often results in a false conception of the importance and moral quality of ones own group...In it's extreme forms, the fallacy of loyalty in the face of great contrary evidence because of provincial loyalty.

It's evident that Jehovah had already chosen this organization, because of the faithfulness and the sincerity of the men behind it.

I found the above referenced statement interesting. If I remember correctly, they usually say that Jehovah saw the difference between them and Christendom, despite the fact that there was virtually no difference between the 1919 Bible Students and the rest of Christendom. This is of course problematic for the FDS.

Now it seems that they are backing away from Jah saw their good works and asserting that Jah saw that they were the most sincere. As usual, he doesn't explain how it is "evident" that Jehovah chose them.

The return of Christ, Armageddon, the Great Tribulation, Paradise on a new earth

all great topics for a book publishing company to commercialize on though........... Hey wait a second.

What makes these people relevant? They were born and educated by people who believed in something to be absolutely true. They passed those beliefs on and another 'true believer' can speak with authority given by whom?

The witnesses are a religion based on contradiction. They claim 'divine providence' but when scrutinized, they deny it. Has Jehovah favored David Splane over others? Is he a member of the governing body because God has favored him over others?

The religion is based on politics, cronyism and the delusion that what they think matters in the grand scheme of things. Think about it. People who are actually trying do things to help others take a back seat to witnesses who irritate householders because their counting hours of ministry is more relevant. They call each other brothers, sisters, friends, but will turn on you if you do not conform to their self-serving version of worship. They were never given any authority, they chose to be pathetic.

People have a choice. Do you need self-worshippers who made inaccurate predictions about the future to tell you what the 'truth' is? Do you really need self-worshippers to tell you what you should do to make your life more fulfilling?

Witnesses claim that Christ is the head of the congregation because it is scriptural, but that is not true. Their actions prove that they have no regard for the one that they claim to respect. They follow their own lead because they have been favored by men.

In the end, witnesses are just men worshippers. That is what it has always been. No matter how they try to mask it, that is the true reality.

I'm sorry. In re-reading my post, I want to allow others to determine what 'true reality' is. My post was meant to provoke thought, not influence.

I would rather leave the peer pressure to those that believe that they have the 'absolute truth'. God is with them because they say so.

Perhaps he could tell us what did Bible Students believed at that time and what "truths"did Jesus accepted?

And perhaps he could us if the criteria of Jesus can change from time to time? Does He use the same criteria all the time?

What if Jesus makes inspection now, which so called Christian group can fit His requirements?

Do the teachings and doctrine of the Bible Students in 1919 are the same of the modern day Jehovahs witnesses?

So if Jesus chosen back in 1919 the Bible Students for certain "truths they teached" do those "truths" can be applied today?

How would the WT react if a JW starts to preach and believe the "truths" of 1919?

If they are considered apostate teachings, the "truths" that Jesus approved in 1919, then who is the real apostate? Jesus who pick them in 1919 because they comply His criteria, or the modern day Jehovahs Witnesses that they haven't kept not a single teaching of 1919?

The new DVD is just another effort by the WT to white wash their past....I have seen it today and it is really interesting to see how they change their past history

By 1916 the Bible Student groups who still aligned with Russell were heavily into Zionism and Dispensationalism the exact opposite of JW theology.
