Keys are a rare emergency. I'd put them in a small leather pouch, dig a hole in the backyard, drop it in the hole, and then plant a small plant over it. When you need them, uproot the plant and dig out the pouch. I doubt a thief would think of looking for keys underneath plants (and if you have a bunch of plants around there even better), but there is still a small risk anytime you leave the keys out. And the plant would be a marker for you, so you'd know where the keys are. And the pouch would keep the keys free from water and rust. Just an idea.

Pretty much any ledge or flat surface in the garage is good. Also if there is a ledge on the house that can be reached but not easily seen is a good one too. Let us know where you decide to hide it and your address pls.... lol
