I also can't add much to the advice above. But you most certainly can be spiritual without being religious. I am spiritual, and not religious. Spiritual in that I believe in Jesus and God, and try to mirror my life after the things Jesus taught. My relationship with him is personal, and sincere, and I treasure it.
